The situation in Jaipur is no better, despite the launch of Bisalpur-Jaipur water project as several areas, including the Walled City, water-related protests have been a regular phenomena in recent times. PHED officials admitted, that despite Bisalpur, the city water supply has not improved owing to low pressure. Against the backdrop of receding water table in the state, hundreds of tube wells going dry and having no alternative source of surface water, experts say that only astute crisis management can provide any respite. 11 districts in the state have been put under critical group where water crisis is on worst case. Dungarpur, Pali, Rajsamand, Barmer, Nagaur, Jhalawar are some of the districts where drinking water is supplied by tankers and by transporting water by trains.
One report on water crises show that India, with 16 per cent of the humanity but less than 3 per cent of global fresh water resources. Rajasthan is very much at a disadvantage even in the Indian context. The population growth rate of the state is among the highest in the country. Demand for water from hitherto insubstantial uses, such as industry, tourism and recreation, as well as sanitation and environmental purposes, has been growing apace. The supply, however, has remained unchanged. The primary source is the scanty and uncertain precipitation, confined to just two months of the year. Nearly a third of the state is arid and another 30 per cent semi-arid, which implies that nearly two-thirds of the state suffers from recurrent water scarcity. In rajasthan from last 30 year is only a political issue, no one care about the situation and how much worst it can be, if proper major are not taken to resolve the water problem. Mansoon rail is also lesser in rajasthan dur to parallel alignment of arawali hills with mansoon. Govt. have to strengthen the relation with the neighbour state such as gujrat, MP, UP and punjab so that we can use the river resources and resolve the water problem.
SAVE WATER, SAVE LIFE, SAVE RAJASTHAN !!!

ReplyDeletethere is no use in writing such articles bcoz d government dos'nt care about it bcoz its not facing such crisis.they just want 'note' n 'vote'!!!i have written many letters 2 d editors of many newspapers n hardly 1 or 2 of dem were published but it did'nt affect anything!!all i wanna say is dat it's v d common people who will have 2 raise thier voices through strikes n rallies...........n........ya my name's fake coz i can't write my real name!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think its easier to blame the government for everything that we think we have no control over. But does blaming anyone helps anything? If at all we have to blame someone its us. All of us. When we have regular and enough water suppy, how many of us care to save it! We wash our cars, wash the verandhas, wash even the streets. Its bizarre. We waste because we have more than we need. This article is shallow in discussing the problems because it just talks about the few urban pockets. Is that the only Rajasthan? The rural areas are far worse because they do not even have the water supply connections. What about them?
ReplyDeleteWe must all look into ourselves and see how much, everyday, we all waste. The government, afterall, cannot cultivate water!
Govt are doing its best but Govt is busy in providing medicine which involves lot of corruption in water supply system, Govt approved 5 Tanker water to each village panchayat but who know who is getting water.. as people are still suffering from water crises even people in rural area do not have drinking water.. .Govt must take some big step to solve water crises as Center and State both are having same govt. they can do it ...this is best time for such project.. bring water from some river.... as u know.. what Mansoon is doing year by year... rajasthan have to suffer if we are getting dependent on mansoon water...

ReplyDeleteStop blaming the government and others and start saving it .
Dont keep the tap open throughout brushing open it when required.
clean ur cars vehicles with wet cloth instead of wasting so much water
do waste water management the water which is used for washing clothes and dishes make use of that to clean the street
use bucket instead of shower or dont close the shower while shampooing.
Throw the stored unused water in the kitchen garden instead of drainage

ReplyDeletenot only gov. but people also have to walk one step forward so that they can aleast presume to have fresh water for their next generation.
gov. must create some policies and take restrictive actions and side by side people should make very crucious use of water and not wasting even one drop...
