Arun Chaturvedi elected BJP state president in Rajasthan

BJP announce Arun Chaturvedi as state president in Rajasthan, known for his allegiance to RSS, Chaturvedi replaces Om Mathur, who had resigned from the post on May 20, owning moral responsibility for the defeat in the Lok Sabha polls. Chaturvedi, 48, is the youngest to take over as state BJP chief. Arun chaturvedi is known for strong RSS background and his ability to mobilise the youth and his relations with the senior party members. Chaturvedi, who is a practising advocate at Rajasthan High Court, has been the vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in the 1990s, later holding various posts in the organisation, including that of general secretary, before finally becoming the vicepresident in 2007. Known for his vision and his ability to bring both the younger and the senior members on the same platform, Chaturvedi has earned respect within the party because of his hard work. Denied several opportunities in the past, Chaturvedi never complained and always remained loyal to the party. This was probably one reason he never fought an election. He was a probable candidate for both the 2008 Assembly elections and 2009 LS polls from Jaipur, though his name never made it to the final list. Chaturvedi’s selection comes as a surprise in BJP Camp. Several in the party also believe that he has finally achieved what he deserved.
