Fresh efforts to nab Former DIG Madhukar Tandon

The case of former DIG Madhukar Tandon seems to have opened up a can of worms, as Rajasthan Police have launched fresh efforts to nab Orissa DG Bidya Bhusan Mohanty’s son Bittihotra Mohanty, who was serving a sever-year jail term in Alwar jail after he was found guilty of raping a German girl, but jumped parole in December 2006. He has been absconding since. Bittihotra, the only son of the BB Mohanty, was serving the term in Alwar jail. He was granted a 14-day parole on November 20, 2006 till December 4 on the plea of seeing his ailing grandmother in Cuttack. But he didn’t turn up again.
His father was also criticised for not responding to Rajasthan Police’s letters to the Orissa government in connection with the case. He resumed duty in May 2009 after Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik revoked his suspension. “The six-member team, constituted to investigate the Tandon’s case, will also try to nab Bittihotra Mohanty who is wanted by Rajasthan police,” said K L Bairwa, ADG (crime). An SOG officer said that the files related to Mohanty case are also being examined and teams will be sent to Orissa and other possible whereabouts.
