The union ministry of surface transport has given the nod for widening the road between Kishangarh and Ajmer into a six-lane highway. The sanction will facilitate the travel of thousands wanting to pay a visit to the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Currently, while the road between Jaipur and Kishangarh is a six-lane highway, thereafter it is only a single road that takes devotees through a bumpy ride.
The decision was taken on Tuesday by Union surface transport minister Kamal Nath after a proposal for the same was mooted by Ahmed Patel, political adviser to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The move will facilitate smooth traffic not only for the dargah but also for the famous Brahma temple in Pushkar. At present, the wide road from Gurgaon ends after exiting the toll plaza at Kishangarh after which motorists have to negotiate heavy traffic on the existing two-lane road.
