Unit 5 of the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project, with a capacity of 220 Megawatts (MW), at Rawatbhata in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district started commercial operations from Thursday midnight, an official of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) said here Saturday. Unit 5 was synchronized to the power grid for the first time Dec 22. With the commissioning of the unit, the number of nuclear power reactions in commercial operation has increased to 18 with a total installed capacity of 4,340 MW.
