Reserve Bank of India has issued banking license to the Central Cooperative Bank of Jaipur following the latter's application in accordance with the new guidelines released by the Union Government. All cooperative banks in the country are required to obtain RBI licence for banking business by 2012. Registrar of Cooperative Societies Mukesh Sharma said here on Sunday that other central cooperative banks in the State had also applied for licences. “These banks have started operating mini banks in the village cooperative societies, besides disbursing crop loans to farmers,” he said.
Jaipur Central Cooperative Bank Managing Director Brajendra Rajoria said the bank was continuously making profit and disbursing cooperative loans worth Rs.150 crore annually in the district. Over 140 village cooperative societies in the district have started providing banking services in the rural areas through the mini banks established recently.
