The Rajasthan Assembly today passed five Bills to replace four ordinances and for setting up a private University in Newai(Tonk). The House passed the Rajasthan Cooperative Societies(Amendment) Act 2010 to amend the old Act of 2001 to give effect to legal reforms in short term cooperative credit structure. The amendments were required for availing the benefit of the financial package offered to states by the Centre on recommendation of AK Vaidhyanathan committee. The amendments had already been made in the Act through an ordinance promulgated by the state government in October last year. The Bill has been brought to replace that ordinance.
Likewise, the House also passed by voice votes Homeopathy University Jaipur Act 2010, NIIT University Neemrana (Alwar) Bill 2010, and Shridhar University Bigodna (Jhunjhunu) Act 2010 to replace respective ordinances promulgated in October last for setting up of the three private Universities. Besides this, one more varsity -- Dr KN Modi University, Newai(Tonk), has also been set up through a Bill which was passed in the House today.
