Rajasthani group to perform at FIFA World Cup 2010

Sun city jodhpur based Rajasthani folk dance group has been invited to perform at FIFA World Cup 2010, which is scheduled to be held in South Africa from June 11 to July 11 this year. Indian Magic & Music, a group of four artists from Jodhpur, has got an invitation from the Government of South Africa to perform at the inaugural ceremony of the Federation Internationale de Football Association this year. The group succeeded in drawing the attention of the government officials and FIFA organisers there through there consistent performance schedule, who offered it to participate in the FIFA-2010. An ecstatic Harish said, “Besides this, we will also have an opportunity to participate in the ceremony of the completion of 150 years of the arrival of the Indians in South Africa.”
The group, which put in considerable time in polishing its performing skills and design and creation of the items to be presented, finally set off for the host country. The group consists of magicians Harish and his father Gopal, Kalbelia tribe folk dancer Ishu Sapera and puppeteer Shyam Lal. Harish claimed that their performance is not traditional but quite thematic, comprising Indian religion and philosophy, which makes the spectators completely absorbed in their shows. He termed this opportunity as the recognition of Indian art and culture overseas, which is consolidating day by day.
