7 killed at railway crossing in Jalore

Seven persons including a woman were today killed when a goods train rammed into a tractor at an unmanned railway crossing in Rajasthan's Jalore district. All seven victims belonged to Khera village and Modra-ki-Dhani in Jalore district, Superintendebt of Police L N Meena said. The goods train, which was on its way from Jodhpur to Bhilari, rammed into the tractor on which seven persons were riding at Modran, 389 km from here, the SP said.
No train was running on this track for the last one year due to gauge conversion. The train operations started a fortnight ago and the villagers were probably not aware, the SP commented. Jalore Collector has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1.40 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased, he said.
