Rajasthan University’s CCT course attract many students

The Centre for Converging Technology (CCT) is the most hitech department of Rajasthan University (RU), equipped with sophisticated laboratories, designed to produce converging technology specialists to contribute the needs of society and industry. The CCT is a five-year integrated programme and offers M Tech degree. Started in 2006, this course offers wide opportunities in research oriented corporate and government agencies. It is a blend of four different technologies like nanotechnology, bioinformatics and biotechnology, information and communication technology and cognitive and neuroscience. S L Kothari, director, CCT, explaining the interdependence of four technologies in a nutshell, said, “The ‘cognitive’ scientist can prepare a blueprint on neurophysiological activities, the ‘nano-tech-buffs’ have the capacity to build functional devices, the bio-techies can implement idea by developing computer softwara and IT people can monitor and control the project.”
He claimed that the course is first of its kind in the country, aiming to create a force of professionals, which are capable to converge several technologies to improve human health and fasten economic development. The fully air-conditioned department has a complete network and dust and germ free research labs. The newly constructed building has been designed in such a way to make full use of sunlight during the day. The department has eight rooms and same number of activity rooms equipped with digital boards and power point presentations.
