Sheila Dikshit inaugurated Ajmer Urs transit camp at Delhi

The 20-day transit camp for pilgrims departing from Delhi to attend the 798th annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti at Ajmer Sharif was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at Burari Maidan here on Tuesday. Making a mention of how the Urs camp has been organised consecutively for the past 10 years at Burari Maidan, the Chief Minister said her government has been providing help in organising camps for pilgrims of all religions. She expressed hope that the stay of the pilgrims would be comfortable in the transit camp as this year more facilities have been provided. Ms. Dikshit also lauded the role of Urs Committee in making arrangements at the camp.
Delhi Development Minister Rajkumar Chauhan informed that this year at the intervention of the Chief Minister the Haj quota of Delhi had increased from 1,200 to 2,500. The camp has been set up to facilitate travel to Ajmer of pilgrims who come to Delhi from all parts of the country. A number of ambulances have been deployed and CCTV cameras installed at the camp.
