Royal Rajasthan on Wheels reaches varanasi

Royal Rajasthan on Wheels (RRW), an upgraded version of famous Palace on Wheels, as the luxurious train arrived at platform number eight of the Cantonment railway station on Friday morning, making its debut in the region. While the 22-coach golden train with floral imprints remained the centre of attraction at the station, reflecting the royal touch of princely state of Rajasthan, the interiors and decor along with faultless hospitality on the train was a new experience for the locals "The holy city has become the third important destination after Jaipur and Khajuraho, forming a golden pentagon before proceeding to Agra and returning to New Delhi in its one week itinerary," said Ashok Kumar Sharma, assistant general manager, RRW, while talking to TOI on Friday. Saying there was a lot of interest and demand from the tourists for extending the itinerary of the train to places of tourist significance like Varanasi and Khajuraho, he also emphasised that the train would follow the itinerary from September to April every year.
It may be mentioned here that Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation ( RTDC). in collaboration with Indian Railways, introduced RRW-- an upgraded version of its earlier format Palace on Wheels-- in January 2009. Apart from its earlier itinerary, new places like Varanasi and Khajuraho have been included in the one-week programme.
