BJP leader and former Rajasthan Finance Minister Manik Chand Surana today opposed the state government's move implement the Rs 12,000 crore Jaipur metro rail project saying it 'lacks viability' and urged that the project implementation be stopped till re-assessment by the authorities concerned is done.
Mr Surana said, ''The project is not based on real needs of the people but is being undertaken on the basis of fancying needs, projections and/or estimates''. Therefore, this project should be stopped and a committee of high officials should be constituted for re-assessment and review of the project, its economy, need and viability, he said. 'I have also written a letter to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot urging him to review the project and suggest measures,'' Mr Surana said.
