Rajasthan police to setup Woman Security and Counseling centres

Acting on the social security agenda, the Gehlot government in Rajasthan has decided to set up women security and counseling centres at every mahila police station for providing help and advise to suffering women. A proposal from the Women and Child Development Department for the purpose, has been approved by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, an official spokesman said here today.
The Chief Minister has also sanctioned Rs 3 lakh grant for each of such centres to be set up and run through NGOs/self help groups(SHGs) The Chief Minister has also constituted a state level steering committee headed by Principal Secretary Women and Child Development Department, for providing immediate assistance and guidance to any victim of domestic violence or torture otherwise. Presently, 24 mahila police stations were functioning in the state and 14 others are being opened soon. 'The state government do intend to set up the centres at all 38 mahila police stations(14 proposed) by the end of the current fiscal'', the spokesman added.
