RTU B.Tech Session behind schedule by 2 Month

The academic session 2010-11 for B.Tech college affiliated with Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) is delayed by two months, leaving students perplexed. The RTU has held Board of Technical Education, Jodhpur , who conducted RPET exam and counselling for the delay. "Having declared RPET results ahead of its time on June 17, they should have started the counselling by last week of June. However, they started counselling by the end of August, which has delayed the entire session," said RP Yadav, V-C , RTU.
In their defence, the board officials has passed the buck on AICTE for the delay in releasing its annual list of engineering colleges on June 30, that too, incomplete. "The counselling can take place only when we have AICTE list of all affiliated colleges in the state," said a board official. The delay, however, will affect the future of over 40,000 students who enrolled in 150 colleges in the state.
The RTU officials are now preparing revised academic calendar for new entrants. In order to compensate the loss of 60 days, the will cut short the Diwali and winter vacation . "There should be either 45 classes for each subject or 14 weeks between two exams," added Yadav. Experts said that new session is unlikely to begin before the second week of October . By the time the semester will end in February, the students in other engineering colleges would have started with their second semester. Yadav said the academic calendar 2010-11 posted on the RTU website will soon be replaced with the revised calendar.
