Madhya Pradesh(MP) Police have decided to act against vehicles which do not have registration number plates of prescribed design and dimensions. The vehicle found flouting the rule will be fined Rs 50. The police say that these number plates are difficult to read and often miscreants commit crime and escape as witnesses are not able to read their number plates. Additional Superintendent of Police, Monica Shukla, said that shops should stop making designer number plates. She said that the Motor Vehicle Act gives directions for the shape and size of numerals and alphabets to be written on number plates and the number plates should be written as per the give standards. This would help the police. She also said that if anyone forces shops to make designer plates, they can lodge a complaint and action would be taken against the vehicle owner.
