Rajasthan-Baroda Ranji Trophy final starts today. At the start of the domestic season nobody would have thought that a Plate Division side would actually be in contention for the Ranji Trophy title. Thanks to Rajasthan’s spirited showing, the miracle did take place and now they are up against fivetime champions Baroda in the final, starting on Tuesday, at the Moti Bagh Stadium here. In fact, they are the only team to have progressed to the final from the Plate Division in the history of the competition.
Last time Rajasthan featured in a final was way back in 1973-74 season and most of the current crop are aware that they have a chance be part of something special in Rajasthan cricketing history. Pace duo of Deepak Chahar and Pankaj Singh, would again look to be among the wickets after running through the likes of Hyderabad and Mumbai.
