Nursing student commits suicide at SMS Hospital

A fourth-year student of nursing at the SMS Medical College, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her hostel room on Wednesday. When her roommates returned after attending a cultural programme, being held at the nearby Ravindra Manch, they found her room number 68 on second floor of the hostel locked from inside. They had to force open the mesh door and break the glass panes of the door — only to find her body hanging from the ceiling with a dupatta. The Moti Doongri police recovered a suicide note from the room in which the Bassi resident had held herself responsible for her decision. She wrote, “my body be donated to the SMS hospital” and that “no post mortem be conducted by the medical board”. ‘Nobody should shed tears for me’
