Union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Sachin Pilot on Sunday admitted that the quality of state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited's mobile services still left much to be desired and that customers had to bear problems such as call and signal dropping. Pilot was in Chandigarh to launch BSNL's value-added services (VAS) in Punjab. The VAS, which include 'dial a video', 'live share services' and 'video SMS' services, would transform communications for users in the state, said Pilot.'Dial a video' services can be used to access entertainment or video based services on cell phones while on the move without the need for subscribing to a special data plan or using particular settings; one just needs video call enabled phone, according to a BSNL official.
"With 'live share services', users will be able to share videos instantly through their mobile phones with their families, colleagues, and friends over SMS or popular social networking sites.
The 'video SMS service' will allow users to leave video messages for anyone as long as they have a phone which supports video calls," the official added.
