Ashok Ghelot lays foundation of irrigation project

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today laid the foundation stone for Rs 23.5 crore Piplon Minor Irrigation Project in Piplon village of Banswara district. The project comprising a dam on a Telini River local channel and two canals covering, in total, around 15-Km stretch, would benefit over 300 ST's and SC's families in the area. Speaking on the occasion Mr Gehlot said the project was pending for a long time and now it's speedy construction would pave the way for the development of the remote tribal area. This project is important for the permanent solution of water problem in this abundant tribal populated area, he said.
Addressing the gathering Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways C P Joshi said that MGNREGA scheme was changing lives of people. He also lauded the Right to Education Act and called up on the people to draw benefit of the scheme by ensuring regular education to their children. The Chief Minister who was on two-day visit to tribal dominated Banswara, Dungarpur and Pratapgarh districts since yesterday, earlier in the day unveiled the statute of former chief minister late Harideo Joshi in Anandpuri in Banswara.
