Decision on Aseemanand's bail on 6 May

NIA Special Court here today reserved its decision on an application for bail to Sangh Parivar functionary and an accused in infamous Ajmer Dargah sharif blast case, Swami Aseemanand. The court heard arguments from the defense as well as the prosecution,on the application moved by the accused Swami's counsel JS Rana on April 30 last. The decision on the bail is now expected to be delivered on May 6. It is to recall that Chief Judicial Magistrate(Ajmer) RL Mund- the court from where the case has been transferred to NIA court here last week following notification for designating the special court to hear the case under NIA Act--, has already extended the the dead-line for filing charge sheet against accused in this case from 90 to 180 days.
However, Mr Rana had challenged the court order and filed revision petition before the District and Session Judge Ajmer. The court today also accepted an request from NIA Hyderabad branch for interrogation with the Swami. The agency could interrogate the Swami in the Jail here in the presence of his lawyer. The accused in under judicial custody in the jail here till May 14. Meanwhile, the dead-line for charge sheet against another accused Bharat has also been extended from 90 to 180 days.
