Al-Qaida mastermind Osama bin Laden is killed in a deep compound in abbottabad, by US Army last night near Islamabad in Pakistan say US President Barak Obama in his address from the White House. Osama was hiden in a compound which is more kind of a big home in a small town Obbotabad, 150 KM away from Pakisthan's Capital Osmanabad in North-West Pakistan.The Saudi-born leader of al Qaida had been hunted since a series of attacks on Western targets including the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington that levelled the twin towers of the World Trade Centre and hit the Pentagon. Mr Bin Laden is top of the US most wanted list. He is accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New York and Washington on 11 September 2001.

President also thanks Intelligence agency and US Army for their patriotism and work.As crowds gathered outside the White House waving American flags and singing “The Star Spangled Banner”, Mr Obama confirmed the news that had already leaked out, stating that “the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al-Qaeda”. The American president said that “a small team of Americans” had killed bin Laden and taken custody of his body following a firefight earlier on Sunday. He disclosed that the original intelligence about his whereabouts had been briefed to him last August and that he had authorised the operation last week.

as a Pakistani I am ecstatic that this evil person is removed...he has brought too much death and destruction in our country !

ReplyDeleteIndia should learn a lesson from this The US preferred to kill Osama then & there rather than go for catching him alive, put him under trail & so on. Only if Kasab had been shot down dead .....all those lengthy legal processes, spent of crores of rupees on his safety, dossiers to PAK etc and above all the death penalty which wud never get executed.....could have been avoided. Better always to kill such dreaded terrorists when you get such an opportunity rather than catch & keep him alive with the useless hope that the terrorist when alive would help in the investigations.!!!
