Online survey company Speak Asia's Chief Operations Officer (COO) Tarak Bajpai into custody from Indore in connection with a multi-crore rupee ponzi scheme across the country by Enforcement Directorate (ED). The online survey company (www.speakasiaonline.com) has been accused of Rs 2000 crore scam. Speak Asia Online (SAOL) would be inspected under section 591 of the Companies Act, which is applicable on companies incorporated outside India and has established a place of business within the country, reports said.
Bajpai who is the most prominent face of the online survey company's India operations - will now be flown from Indore to Mumbai. Speak Asia is being investigated for a multi-level fraud. FIRs and PILs have been filed against it. The company has maintained that it collects money only for its online magazine and that the survey is just a benefit. The Singapore-based company ran into a controversy over its alleged pyramid scheme that involves paid subscribers filling up online consumer survey forms and luring more into its fold in return for commissions. Speak Asia has also faced charges that some of the companies intended to benefit from its surveys had not employed it.
