Bandh against FDI successful in Rajasthan

All India bandh call against Union government's decision to allow FDI in retail sector evoked a good response in Rajasthan on Thursday. All the main trade bodies and associations extended their support to the band call and most of the shops in the state capital Jaipur are closed. Representatives of the traders' associations and BJP workers thronged the streets to ensure no establishment is open.
Bandh organised by various traders' organisations in protest against the opening of multi-brand retail sector for foreign direct investment(FDI), evoked good response in many towns in Rajasthan today. In the state capital here, shops and business establishments in main markets and business hubs remained closed. More than 35 traders organisations in the state have joined in the bandh called at the national level by different outfits. The BJP has supported the bandh. Essential services were exempted from the bandh call. The bandh was totally peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere, the police said.
