Milind Deora MoS IT defend amending 66A of IT Act

Milind Deora, Minister of State (MoS), Communications & IT support Section 66A of the IT Act (“sending offensive messages through communication service, etc.”)  and said "Question isn't about amending 66A of the IT Act, its about preventing misuse by the police, who clearly acted in haste & applied wrong" in his recent twit on social media website Twitter. He also said vandals of Dhada Hospital must be booked! Hope Maharashtra Government takes immediate corrective action today Morning reacting on ongoing debate of 66A of IT Act and arrest of two Girls on facebook comments.

This comments comes after two girls in Mumbai arrested for a comment on Facebook about Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray‘s death, the police has now arrested nine persons for their alleged involvement in vandalising a clinic that was run by the uncle of one of the girls. However, it still isn’t clear if the nine persons arrested were linked with the Shiv Sena. A mob ransacked and vandalised the clinic after the doctors niece, 21-year-old Shaheen Dhada made a status update on the social networking site reading, “People like Thackeray are born and die daily and one should not observe a bandh for that”. Dhada and her friend were arrested and booked under section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (“outraging religous feelings of any class”) and Section 66A of the IT Act (“sending offensive messages through communication service, etc.”), reportedly following a complaint to the police by a local Sena leader.
