Swati Gupta, Sub Divisional officer at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Kota was stabbed to death by her ex-driver Lalchand Mehra, 38, at the main gate of her house last night around 9.30 PM, police said. The driver was reportedly angry with the lady officer after she had dismissed him from the job a few months ago, police said adding that accused Mehra has been arrested. The accused was living on rent with his family in a portion of Gupta's house and was also working as her car driver.
Last night at around 9.30 PM when the lady officer was about to close the main gate of her house after parking car in porch, the accused driver emerged from the road and stroked multiple stabs of knife into her chest and stomach following which she collapsed on the spot, police said. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her dead, they added.The accused has been arrested and being interrogated, police said adding that he has confessed to the crime.The accused has been booked under 302 of IPC and would be produced before the local court today after the interrogation is over, the SHO said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured Pacific Island nations of full Indian support at various International Forums. He was speaking in his opening remarks at the 2nd Summit of Forum for India-Pacific Island Countries in Jaipur this evening. Prime Minister also said there is huge potential for cooperation in Ocean economy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said that the centre of gravity of global challenges and opportunities is shifting to the Indo-Pacific region. The PM exhorted these island nations to become partners of India in various fields beyond fisheries, and to work together for a separate goal on climate change.
Prior to the Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral meetings on friday afternoon with Prime Minister of Fiji Josaia V. Bainimarama, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea Peter O' Neill, Prime Minister of Vanuatu Sato Kilman, and President of Nauru, Baron Divavesi Waqa. All the above-mentioned dignitaries expressed strong support for UN reforms and India's candidature for the permanent membership of a reformed UN Security Council.
भारत-प्रशांत द्वीपसमूह सहयोग फोरम का शिखर सम्मेलन (Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) Summit) आज से जयपुर में हो रहा है। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी इस सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन करेंगे। इस सम्मेलन में भारत सहित इस क्षेत्र के 15 देशों के राष्ट्राध्यक्ष भाग ले रहे हैं। भारत- प्रशांत द्वीप समूह सहयोग मंच, फिपिक, के लिए भारत आए 14 देशों के राष्ट्राध्यक्षों का राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी ने कल राष्ट्रपति भवन में स्वागत किया। दरअसल भारत का प्रशांत महासागरीय देशों के साथ संबंध काफी अहम है। भारत का प्रशांत महासागरीय देशों के साथ द्विपक्षीय व्यापार वर्ष 2012 में 22 करोड़ 80 लाख डॉलर रहा था जिसमें 58 प्रतिशत से अधिक पापुआ न्यू गिनी के साथ था जबकि दूसरे नंबर पर फिजी था। लिहाज़ा यह सम्मेलन प्रशांत महासागर में स्थित इन द्वीपीय देशों के साथ भारत के व्यापारिक एवं रणनीतिक संबंधों को मजबूती देने में अहम साबित होगा। इससे पहले प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने एफआईपीआईसी शिखर सम्मेलन के लिए भारत आने वाले सभी नेताओं और प्रतिनिधियों का स्वागत किया था । प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा, ‘‘मैं भारत-प्रशांत द्वीपसमूह सहयोग फोरम (एफआईपीआईसी) के लिए भारत आने वाले सभी नेताओं और प्रतिनिधियों का स्वागत करता हूं। मैं एफआईपीआईसी शिखर सम्मेलन से काफी उम्मीद रखता हूं। मुझे पूरा विश्वास है कि इससे प्रशांत द्वीपसमूह के देशों के साथ भारत का संबंध मजबूत होगा।’’

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today register a major win in Urban Local Body (ULB) polls but suffered rude shocks in the home turf of chief minister Vasundhara Raje who is battling corruption charges. The party lost the Jhalawar municipal council and and Jhalrapatan municipality -- both in Raje's assembly constituency Jhalrapatan -- after a gap of more than 15 years. BJP captured the Ajmer Municipal Corporation by winning 31 of the 60 seats, leaving 22 for the Congress and seven for others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his delight with the BJP's splendid show for the confidence reposed and thanked the people of Rajasthan. "A big thank you to people of Rajasthan. Congrats to Rajasthan BJP workers & leaders on the commendable performance in the civic polls," he tweeted.
Rajasthan Congress leader Sachin Pilot, however, downplayed his party's dismal show in the civic polls. "Congress comprehensively defeated the BJP in Vasundhara Raje's strong hold, There is less than one percent difference between the vote share of the BJP and the Congress," he added.
देश की प्रथम महिला श्रीमती शुभ्रा मुखर्जी का आज सुबह (18 अगस्त 2015) को निधन हो गया है। उन्होंने सवेरे 10 बजकर51 मिनट पर अंतिम सांस ली। वे कुछ समय से बीमार चल रही थीं। बांग्लादेश के नारेल में जन्मीं शुभ्रा मुखर्जी का विवाह वर्ष 1957 में राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी से हुआ इनके दो पुत्र और एक पुत्री समेत तीन बच्चे हैं। सुव्रा मुखर्जी रवींद्र संगीत की गायिका थी और पेंटर भी थीं। उन्होंने दो किताबें भी लिखी थीं। प्रथम महिला श्रीमती शुभ्रा मुखर्जी का जीवन परिचय श्रीमती शुभ्रा मुखर्जी का जन्म 17 सितंबर 1940 को जेस्सोर (अब बंगलादेश में) में हुआ था और 13 जुलाई 1957 को श्री प्रणब मुखर्जी के साथ उनका विवाह हुआ था। श्रीमती शुभ्रा मुखर्जी ने स्नातक तक शिक्षा हासिल की थी। वे देश के राष्ट्रीय कवि गुरुदेव रविन्द्र नाथ टैगोर की प्रबल प्रशंसक थीं। वे रविन्द्र संगीत की गायिका थीं और उन्होंने देश के कई हिस्सों में ही नहीं बल्कि यूरोप, एशिया और अफ्रीका में भी कवि रविन्द्र नाथ के डांस-ड्रामा में कई वर्षों तक हिस्सा लिया था। श्रीमती मुखर्जी ने दो पुस्तकें : ‘चोखेर अलॉय’ और ‘चेना अचेनाई चीन’ लिखीं हैं। ‘चोखेर अलॉय’, उनका श्रीमती इंदिरा गांधी के साथ करीबी संबंधों का निजी विवरण है और ‘चेना अचेनाई चीन’ चीन की उनकी यात्रा पर एक यात्रा वृतांत हैं। श्रीमती शुभ्रा मुखर्जी ने ‘गीतांजलि ट्रूप’ की स्थापना की थी जिसका मकसद रविन्द्र नाथ टैगोर के डांस-ड्रामा और गीतों के जरिये व्यक्त किए गए दर्शन को फैलाना था। ट्रूप के सभी कार्यक्रमों की वे मार्गदर्शक थीं।
Over 76 percent voting was recorded Monday in 129 Urban local body elections in Rajasthan. Barring minor incidents, the polling across the state was peaceful. The polling was held amid tight security at sensitive places. Long queues of voters were seen in the morning hours at majority polling centres across state with 76.05 voting till 5:00 Pm. The results will be out on 20th August 2015 and are expected to impact the morale of political parties specially congress who was defeated heavily in last assembly and general election in last 2 years.

One Rank, One Pension (OROP) implies equal amount of pension for having served in the same rank and also having rendered the same length of service. For an example, a Sepoy who retired in 1995 would get the same amount of pension as the one who retired in 1996. The demand for the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) policy took a political turn after One Rank, One Pension (OROP) is not conformed on 15th August 2015 by PM Narendra modi even after more than 1 year in power. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi finally talks on the One rank, One Pension issue on 15th August 2015 after Mann ki Baat Radio programme and declared that while there has been a lot of talk around it, other governments haven't been able to make much progress in the right direction. "The issue of 'One Rank One Pension' came up in front on every government. Some even made small promises. Issue could not be solved." However, he assured that his government is committed to the cause and will do something about it very soon. "I assure the servicemen and I am saying it under the Tricolour from the Red Fort- we have accepted OROP. Some talks are still on."
What is One Rank, One Pension: One Rank, One Pension (OROP), or same pension, for same rank, not for same length of service, irrespective of the date of retirement which was the basis for determining the pension and benefits of Indian Armed Forces till 1973. In 1973,the Third Central Pay Commission (3 CPC), in an "ex-parte" decision terminated OROP. The termination of OROP caused disquiet in the Armed Forces and has since become a cause of public protests by Armed Forces Veterans. An all party ten member Parliamentary Panel, known as the Koshyari Committee after its Chairman, examined OROP. The Koshyari Committee blamed the delay in implementing OROP on bureaucratic resistance and apathy.". The Koshyari Committee unanimously found merit in OROP, and recommended its early implementation. OROP, an increasingly politicised, and often a misunderstood and misrepresented issue, in the run up to the Indian general election of 2014 , found favour with the INC, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The top leaders of these parties, including Sonia Gandhi of INC, and Narendra Modi of BJP, made repeated public commitments to implement OROP.
