Chief medical officer(CMO) of a government hospital arrested today by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while taking a bribe of Rs 4,500 from a contractor for clearing his bills.
Ramesh Mehta, the chief medical officer of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital of Banswara, was arrested after a contractor with the hospital complained to the ACB that he was demanding Rs 5600 from him in lieu of passing bills amounting to around Rs 24000 and had taken Rs 1100 in advance, ACB DG K S Bains said. An alert ACB team caught Mehta at his office while taking the rest of the amount from the contractor.
