Indian Hockey team gets new Coach after a long duration. Jose Brasa from Spain has been appointed as the new chief coach of the Indian men's hockey team today after govt. approve today his name. Brasa has been handed a two-year contract, but didn't rule out the chances of his agreement being extended till the 2012 London Olympics. India has been without a regular coach since Aussie Ric Charlesworth was shown the door last year.
Harendra Singh, who is playing role of part time coach provides some success to indian hockey including a title win in the recent Azlan Shah hockey tournament but has been open to the idea of remaining in the scheme of things with a senior and more reputed coach at the helm.
Sports Ministry said that all his demands were accepted by the Sports Authority of India after the Ministry intervened and negotiated with the Spaniard on behalf of the ad-hoc committee. Brasa would be coming to India next week to formally take charge of coach of indian hockey team. Indian hockey team is looking forward after recent success in international hockey after a dark era of indian hockey when they didn't qualify to Olympic games 2008.
