State election commission on Monday imposed a ban on fresh recruitment by the state government based on the old reservation policy till the panchayati raj polls are over on February 11. Denying permission to the department of personnel(DoP) on the issue following the cabinet’s decision on January 6 to start recruitment, state election commissioner A K Pandey said it would be a violation of model code of conduct to take any new decision. Thus, it has been banned till the three-phase panchayat polls are over, official sources.
DoP had sought permission from the commission to initiate recruitment based on the old reservation quota of SC/ST/OBC at 12%, 16% and 21%t respectively after the high court stayed the Gehlot government decision to increase quota percentage to above 50%. Thus, recruitment to approximately 50,000 posts have been put on hold till the elections are over, an official said.
