Rajasthan Police Lathicharged Farmers in Jodhpur when they went on a rampage for not getting seeds from a government outlet. Farmers assembled in the seed market here on Tuesday morning to purchase the seeds. The went on a rampage when they were told that the Rajasthan Marketing Cooperative Society (KVSS) has run out of the stock of pearl millet seeds. They assembled at the Paota circle in the morning and blocked the road to protest. Police made a lathicharge to disperse the farmers. This infuriated the farmers and they threw stones at the police. In the melee, three farmers and two policemen were injured. Finally, an agreement between the farmers, private sellers and administration was reached under which the seeds were provided from private sellers at controlled rate, which was fixed at Rs 100 per kg. The 12 shops of the wholesalers, which were closed after the agitation, opened after the intervention of the administration.
