IIT Rajasthan gets land for new building

Indian Institute of Technology (Rajasthan) was given the possession of 872 acres of land in Karwar by the Divisional Commissioner on Monday for the construction of new building and campus. The IIT building construction will be completed in two years. In the first phase, construction will take place on 5 lakh square feet of land at a cost of Rs 75 crore. The Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar Jain. District Collector Siddharth Mahajan and Joint Director (Technical Education) R N Agrawal gave the possession papers to IIT Director Prof P K Kalra.
Prof Kalra said that two plots of land on the National Highway measuring 872 acres has been allotted to the IIT. 30 acres of the land will be given for the National Highway construction and 842 acres will be used by the IIT. The IIT Director also said that the new building will be constructed near the Rajasthan Ayurveda University. Opposite to the building, three centres of excellence will be built on 190 acres of land. Prof Neeraj Gupta of the IIT said that the foundation of the building would be laid after the next session of the Parliament.
