Rajasthan CM apologizes for controversy over cow art work

Rajasthan CM apologizes for controversy over cow art work after artists in Jaipur were briefly detained for an art installation at the Jawahar Kala Kendra showing a replica of a cow hanging from a balloon, Rajasthan. Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje on Sunday tweeted an apology for the cow art work row in which the artists were manhandled. "I am saddened by the incident that took place at JKK yesterday. The Police Commissioner has extended his apology," she posted on Twitter. In another tweet, she stated, "The SHO and concerned have been removed and I have spoken to the artist personally.(sic)".
Artist Siddhartha Kararwal who created the installation called 'Bovine Divine' had put up a styrofoam cow suspended mid-air by a balloon. He said that the aim was to show “how cows consume plastic and die due to its consumption”.  However within 30 minutes of the work being put up for the show, police came and asked them to take down the artwork immediately, even before the show began.  Artists Chintan Upadhyay and Anish Ahluwalia tried to reason with the police but the conversation turned into an argument. They both were taken to Bajaj Nagar police station and detained for at least three hours.
