Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM) 2017 will be held at Kota from 24 to 26 May at RAC grounds. This was informed today by the Rajasthan Agriculture Minister, Mr. Prabhu Lal Saini at Krishi Bhawan. He was speaking to the media after the review meeting for GRAM today. Mr. Saini said that at the Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet 2016 held at Jaipur in November, the Chief Minister, Ms. Vasundhara Raje had announced that GRAMs will also be held at the Divisional levels in the State. The GRAM Kota will be jointly organized by the Government of Rajasthan and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI).
The Agriculture Minister further elaborated that the objective of the GRAM at Kota was to empower the farmers of the Division. The event will highlight the agriculture strength of Kota Division. He said as many as 30,000 farmers were expected to attend the event – around 10,000 farmers on each day. The Kota division, he said, was strong in the production of oranges, coriander, soyabean, garlic, ashwagandha, muesli, among others. During GRAM in Kota efforts will be made to discuss how the farmers can benefit by way of value addition of the produce, setting up of processing units and innovation. The Minister also informed that 38 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for projects worth Rs. 4,400 crores were signed between the State Government and the private investors at the GRAM in Jaipur in November last year. Of these 30-35 percent were already actively on board having found land and some of them even having begun construction.
