Election - IPL Date collide, IPL in Trouble
After the date collision between IPL and Loksabha Election 2009, Home Minister Chidambram ask IPL Chairmen to reschedule the IPL Matches or organize it after the LS Election because of Security Reason as all forces are busy in Election duty.
At first look it looks strange as all state have individual forces but Home minister is right as if There is election i Delhi then definitely Delhi Govt. ask for additional forces from Rajasthan, Haryana and UP, that will make unsafe place to all 4 locations.
A day after the Union home ministry sought alternative dates for IPL matches, the BCCI on Thursday sent back a revised schedule — without changing the dates of the first (April 10) and final matches (May 24). The revised schedule, with dates of five games changed, has ensured that host cities are not allotted matches two days before and after polling days.
The states where IPL matches are scheduled to be held are West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Delhi. Around 21 lakh police personnel, including over 75,000 paramilitary men, will be on security duty during Lok Sabha polls. Besides, more central forces will be kept on standby to meet any emergency during the election.
After the attack on Lankan team at Pakistan indian Govt. didn't want to take any chance with the security of players at IPL Season 2.
