Jacob Oram to play for Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals have signed New Zealand allrounder Jacob Oram as a replacement for the injured Paul Collingwood. Oram has been signed for $250,000, which is what the franchise paid for Collingwood in the player auction in January. IPL rules preclude teams from signing replacement players at a higher value than the player they are replacing. Upon returning from the World Cup, Oram indicated he was going back to India for the IPL but refused to reveal which team he was in talks with. However Rajasthan has confirmed Oram will replace injured Englishman Paul Collingwood. Last week Oram told ONE News he hoped the deal would prolong his career.
"Two weeks ago I was coming home to stay home for nearly six months of a winter break and really decide what I'm going to do with my future," Oram said. "I'm going to look forward to going over there and playing well and who knows, maybe pick up a gig for next year and my career might just keep going on and on." New Zealand team-mate Ross Taylor also plays for Rajasthan, who are coached by Australian spin king Shane Warne.
