Special wing to trace former DIG Madhukar Tandon in Rape Case

Rajasthan government on Wednesday asked a special wing of the police to trace and arrest a former IPS officer accused of raping a tribal woman 13 years ago and absconding. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot told reporters here that this was a "serious incident" and the Special Operations Group of the state police has been asked to arrest former DIG Madhukar Tandon for allegedly raping the woman in 1997. "We have directed the SOG to arrest the accused and hope the victim will get justice", Gehlot said adding "there is a trial in the court and the accused is absconding". He said issue of the rape victims waiting for justice for 13 years was "very serious" and the government was trying to arrest the accused.
Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal said the government would also go into how Tandon had got out of the clutches of law and who are responsible for it. "This is a serious matter. The accused has not been arrested since 1997...Those who had information about him, why didn't they do anything?...we will go into the matter", Dhariwal said. The woman was allegedly abducted to Noida in Uttar Pradesh in January 1997 and raped there by the former IPS officer, then posted in the police headquarters here. Meanwhile, thousands of protesters blocked the Jaipur-Agra highway in Dausa district, 57 km from here, after their MP Kirori Lal Meena (Independent), who was on a dharna here seeking justice for the tribal woman, was arrested along with 13 others in the wee hours today.

Among the dead were a 78-year-old man from Jaipur, a two-year-old boy, a woman from Jodhpur and another woman from Pali. According to the health department, till date 3,016 people have tested positive for the disease in the state. Health officials maintained that the reason of high mortality remains late diagnosis of the disease, especially in the remote areas. The health department has now ordered to sensitise all private medical practitioners in the state regarding swine flu. “The private clinics and hospitals will be provided information about categorisation of the swine flu suspects and will be instructed to refer all suspected H1N1 patients to the nearest screening centres,” a senior health official said.

Too many Asian immigrants in UK- Former PM

Former prime minister Margaret Thatcher had complained about too many Asian immigrants being allowed into Britain while she had less objections about white settlers in the country. Secret files released to the National Archives Wednesday showed that soon after becoming prime minister, Thatcher privately complained that "too many Asian immigrants were being allowed into Britain." But she had fewer problems about 'white' immigrants such as Rhodesians, Poles and Hungarians, since they could more easily be assimilated into British society, files showed.
The files, which are published today under the "30-year rule", shed light on Thatcher's attitudes on race and immigration, political issues that have remained controversial ever since. The documents show that in July 1979, Thatcher responded angrily when Foreign Secretary Lord Carrington suggested that Britain accept 10,000 Vietnamese boat people, fleeing persecution in communist Vietnam, over two years. Failure to take a significant number would lead to a "damaging reaction" at home and abroad, Carrington said, adding that anything less than 10,000 would be "difficult to sustain" on the world stage. But Thatcher said there were already too many people coming into Britain.

People can fly Indian Flag Tricolour or Tiranga at Night

Indian citizens can now fly the National Flag even at night but at certain condition such as flagpole is really tall and the flag is kept well-illuminated. The home ministry took the decision following a proposal by industrialist Naveen Jindal, who had earlier won a court battle in the 1990s for flying the Tricolour as a fundamental right for every citizen. In a communication to Jindal, also a Congress leader and Member of Parliament, the ministry said it has examined the proposal and had no objection to installing "giant flagpoles for flying the National Flag day and night at various places." In a representation to the ministry in June 2009, Jindal had sought permission to fly mammoth-sized national flag on monumental flagpoles during night. Jindal had said that the National Flag is to be flown in "as far as possible between sunrise and sunset" as per Flag Code of India, but it was a common practice worldwide for massive national flags to be flown day and night on monumental flagpoles of 100 feet and above in height.
Citing the example of countries like Malaysia, Jordon, Abu Dhabi, North Korea, Brazil, Mexico and Turkmenistan where monumental flags are flown at night, Jindal proposed that such flags to be flown in India also. After almost a decade long legal battle initiated by Jindal on behalf of the people of India to give them the right to hoist the Tricolour publicly, the Supreme Court in 1996 passed a judgment allowing every citizen to fly the national flag with respect, dignity and honour, thus making it a fundamental right.

Nobel Prize winner Dr Pachauri accused of making "fortune"

Indian born Nobel Prize winner Dr Rajendra Pachauri has been accused of making a "fortune" from his links with "carbon trading" companies dependent on the world body's policy recommendations. In a special report, The Sunday Telegraph said that "although Dr Pachauri is often presented as a (climate) scientist, as a former railway engineer with a PhD in economics, he has no qualifications in climate science. What has also almost entirely escaped attention, however, is how Pachauri has established a worldwide portfolio of business interests with bodies that have been investing billions of dollars in organisations dependent on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's policy recommendations. "These include banks, oil and energy companies and investment funds heavily involved in 'carbon trading' and 'sustainable technologies' which together make up the fastest-growing commodity market in the world estimated soon to be worth trillions of dollars a year." The newspaper, however, did not carry any reaction of Pachauri on its report.
The report claimed that the potential conflict of interest was first publicly raised on last Tuesday when, after giving a lecture at Copenhagen University, he was handed over a letter by two eminent climate sceptics. Head of The Energy Research Institute TERI, Pachuri shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of IPCC with former US Vice President Al Gore.

Ban on Dhoni for 2 ODI, Sehwag to lead at Cuttack and Kolkata

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was handed a two-ODI ban for the team's slow over-rate in the second One-Day International against Sri Lanka in Nagpur on Friday. The match, which India lost by three wickets, went about 45 minutes beyond the scheduled finish time. As the ban is effective immediately, Dhoni will have to sit out of the upcoming ODIs in Cuttack and Kolkata.
The decision to ban Dhoni was taken by match referee Jeff Crowe of New Zealand, considering the quantum of extra time the Indians took to complete their alloted overs. In the charismatic Dhoni's absence, opener Virendra Sehwag is likely to be named the captain for the two matches to be held in Cuttack on Dec 21 and in Kolkata on Dec 24.
Tillakaratne Dilshan smashed his second straight century to guide Sri Lanka to a thrilling victory. He scored 123 from 113 deliveries, inclusive of 12 boundaries and two sixes, as Sri Lanka posted 302 for seven in 49.1 overs in reply to India's 301 for seven

Rangnath Commission recommendes 10% reservation for Muslims

Rangnath Commission has recommended 10% reservation for Muslims and 5% for other minorities in government jobs and favoured Scheduled Caste status for Dalits in all religions. The report of the National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities, headed by former Chief Justice of India Rangnath Mishra, was tabled by Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid in the Lok Sabha today. Among a host of recommendations, the Commission recommends delinking of Scheduled Caste status from religion and abrogation of the 1950 Scheduled Caste Order which "still excludes Muslims, Christians, Jains and Parsis from the SC net." The Order originally restricted the SC status to Hindus only but was later opened it to Buddhists and Sikhs. With regard to quota, the Commission says that 10% should be reserved for Muslims and five% for other minorities in central and state government jobs in all cadre and grades.
It added that in case of non-availability of Muslims to fill the 10% earmarked seats, these may be made available to other minorities but in "no case" shall any seat within the recommended 15% shall be given to anybody from the majority community. Member Secretary of the Commission Asha Das has, however, given a note of dissent on the the Commission's recommendation for conferment of SC status on Dalit converts to Christianity and Islam saying there was "no justification" for it. Besides, she has said that as Dalit converts to Christianity/Islam do not qualify for inclusion as SCs, they should continue to form part of OBCs and avail facilities and reservations given to the OBCs until a comprehensive list of Socially and Educationally Backward (SEB) is prepared.

Jaswant Singh resigns as PAC chairman

Former BJP leader and Member of Parliament Jaswant Singh resigned from the post of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman here on Wednesday by sending his resignation letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. Earlier, in August, after his expulsion from the BJP following his controversial book on Pakistan founder M.A. Jinha, the BJP had requested him to vacate the post. However, Singh had turned down the demand even after many senior BJP leaders including Sushma Swaraj and S S Ahluwalia made failed attempts to convince him for resigning from the PAC chief's post. Following which members of the BJP and some of its allies had stopped attending the PAC's meetings under his chairmanship till date.
Singh resignation also holds importance as the demand for creation of a separate state of Gorkhaland, like the ongoing process for creation of Telangana, is gaining momentum with each passing day. It can be recalled that the Gorkha Janmukti Morcah (GJM), a group which wants creation of a separate State Gorkhaland, support Jaswant Singh from Darjeeling constituency of West Bengal during the Lok Sabha polls of May 2009.

Maru Pradesh demands in Rajasthan ... WHY ??

After telangana from AP now some people are looking for Maru Pradesh from Rajasthan to fulfill political issue. Bikaner witnessed a rally of about 500 camels through its main thoroughfares on Monday. The rally was organised by activists of the Maru Pradesh (Desert Land) Development Front to press their demand for carving out a separate state from Rajasthan. They demands districts of Barmer, Bikaner, Churu, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jhunjhunu, Osiyan (Tehsil of Jodhpur), Nagaur and Sikar should be given separate statehood status - Manu Pradesh.
"We will give a memorandum to President, Prime Minister and Home Minister that we 30 million people of these districts will constitute Desert state as we are deprived of the benefits of development. We will ask them that if they want our well being, then they should give us a separate state with Bikaner as its capital," said Jaaibir Godara, Founder-President, Maru Pradesh.
Why they demands such thing even statistics-wise certain figures don't synchronise, it notes that the industrial output and employment in Maru Pradesh is less than 15 percent of the total industrial output in Rajasthan. It also mentions that the industrial output of Rajasthan during 2005 was 13 billion rupees in which the share of Maru Pradesh was only two million. Let people to decide what they want but i am totally shocked with the idea of Maru Pradesh from Rajasthan.

Rajasthan HC order not to exceed 50% Reservation Limit

Rajasthan High Court has issued an ad-interim order directing the state government not to exceed the prescribed limit of 50 per cent fixed for the horizontal reservation for various categories in the Panchayatiraj elections. The division bench of justice RC Gandhi and justice Mahesh Bhagwati passed this order on a petition filed by one Sitaram Sharma challenging the Rajasthan Panchayatiraj (second amendment) ordinance 2008 under which the quota for women has been raised from 33% to 50% in the panchayat elections.
The court has also issued notices to chief secretary of the state government, Panchayatiraj department secretary, district collector, Jhunjhunu and CEO of Jhunujhunu district council returnable in four weeks. The court has issued similar order in case of municipal elections also where the state government had introduced 50 per cent quota for the women. According to petitioner’s counsel Anoop Dhand, the quota in Panchayatiraj elections is exceeding 75 per cent, which is in excess of 50 per cent ceiling prescribed by the Supreme Court.
“The state government is offering 50 per cent reservation to women, 20 per cent reservation to youth between the age of 21 and 35 and other prescribed quota for SC/ST and OBC candidates. This exceeds the limit of 50 per cent reservation set by Supreme Court,” he said. The Panchayatiraj elections in Rajasthan were scheduled for February next year. The Union government, through a cabinet decision in August this year, had cleared the proposal to increase reservation for women to 50 per cent in panchayats.

CP Joshi elected RCA President

Union Rural Development Minister and President of Rajasthan Congress CP Joshi becomes the new President of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) by defeating his rival IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi by six votes in the RCA elections. A large number of rowdy supporters gathered both inside and outside the venue of the elections. But despite their scuffles, the voting continued undisturbed.
IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi had lost the last RCA elections in March this year, but internal strife and factionalism in the association led to fresh elections being held today.
The IPL Commissioner declined to accept that his supporters were involved in the clash and described the incident as a shameful one. Shiv Charan Mali, a known loyalist of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had also filed his nominations for the RCA elections.

What is Rajasthan ?

What is Rajasthan? Strange question right! Rajasthan the word which means place of raja’s and maharaja. But there is no more any king and kingdoms in Rajasthan but still it means a lot to people of Rajasthan as now every people of Rajasthan is king with royalty in their thought and behavior.
In ancient time there were kingdoms from different “rajwans” such as Rajput rulers at Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaipur, Jat Rulers at Bharatpur and Dholpur and Muslim rulers at Ajmer and Bundi. With the scent of freedom in 1947, Rajasthan changes a lot and now days a place known for its colors among people and its culture. A place with lot of diversity in climate, culture, language and people but still they are unique and live with glory of word “Rajasthani” but first Indian, who are ready to die for country. Jat Regiment, Rajputana Rifles are some of proud for the names of state where many people serve the nation.
Best thing I personally like about Rajasthan is people and the scent which Rajasthan soil contains. Rajasthan is known as tourist paradises which have forts, wild life, pilgrims and my favorite “Sand dunes” – A place where you never have need of yoga and any spirituality as these sand dunes are far ahead of these things. It is hard to describe the rajasthan even in a book but for rajasthan people “Rajasthani” word can describe all and for businessman it is first choice because of its people and government support. Rajasthan welcomes people from different parts of nation with a spirit of “Padharo Mhare desh” and Tourists are welcomes with spirits of “Atithi devo bhav”. Once someone visit rajasthan he becomes part of this colorful state that’s why it is called “Rangilo rajasthan”. Now lets enjoy rajasthani Food !!!

Clash among Lalit Modi and CP Joshi supporters during RCA Election

Jaipur witness one more clash among Lalit Modi and Union minister CP Joshi supporters during RCA Election today. The two will be contesting for the post of President after the third candidate, Shiv Charan Mali, chairman of the RCA's ad hoc committee pulled out of election. Even as the elections for the new RCA president got under way, supporters of the two presidential candidates got into a scuffle at the election venue. It resulted in Modi's private security guards being evicted from the grounds. There is news that clash happens because of some blame of buying candidates during election.
The RCA is having elections again in less than a year as Sanjay Dixit, who had defeated Modi in the previous election in March, could not hold his men and after a lot of bickering the state government had formed an ad-hoc body. The ongoing power tussle at the RCA was also behind the BCCI scrapping Jaipur as one of the venues during the India-Australia ODI series. Voting was started at 11.00 AM and result will be declared today at 5:00 PM. This election definitely means a lot to both modi and joshi as joshi is former RCA President and IPL Chairmen while CP Joshi is cabinet minister. For the post of RCA Sachiv Rajendra singh rathod and sanjay dixit are candidate. Fate of these candidate will be decided today.

Fighter plane crashed near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan

Indian Air Force fighter plane crashed near Jaisalmer on Monday, but both the pilots were safe. The Sukhoi crashed near Jathegaon, about 40 km from Jaisalmer. The pilots ejected to safety. Air crashes have been bogging down the IAF, with Defence Minister A.K. Antony recently informing Rajya Sabha last week that 12 aircraft, including seven fighters, had been lost this year. The fighters included the frontline Su-30MKI, which crashed over Jaisalmer in April killing one of the pilots. The others were three Russian-built MiG-27s and MiG-21s each. The crashed trainer aircraft included the HPT-32 and Kiran Mk II. A transport aircraft was also lost over Assam.

Indian Economy grows 7.9%,

Indian economy grew by a significant 7.9 per cent in the second quarter of this fiscal, up from 6.1 per cent in the previous quarter, essentially due to a good showing by the industry and the services sector. The growth compares favourably to 7.7 per cent recorded in the July-September quarter in the previous year. The economy rose by 7 per cent in the first half ending September 30 of the current fiscal on the back of stimulus packages and revival of domestic demand, giving hopes that final figures for the year could be much higher. The government, including Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, the Reserve Bank and the Planning Commission had predicted a growth of about 6-7 per cent, while global agencies and analysts forecast it to be even lower.
Analysts were expecting a growth rate of 6.1-6.6 per cent in the second quarter. The economic growth of close to eight per cent in the second quarter is also remarkable in the context of just 0.9 per cent expansion in farm production due to a weak monsoon and continued contraction in exports due to slackening demand overseas. However, the manufacturing sector grew by 9.2 per cent in the July-September period compared to 5.1 per cent in the corresponding period of last fiscal and mining and quarrying by 9.5 per cent versus 3.7 per cent recorded in FY09. Community, social and personal services expanded by double digit at 12.7 per cent against nine per cent.

Vinita Kamte's Book "To The Last Bullet" in controversy

Vinita Kamte, wife of IPS officer Ashok Kamte who died fighting terrorists during 26/11 Mumbai attack, has criticized Joint Police Commissioner(Crime) Rakesh Maria, for denying that he did not guide her husband to Cama hospital. In her book titled "To The Last Bullet", Vinita has questioned why Maria, who took charge of police control room during the 59-hour siege, had denied knowledge of how Ashok, Additional Police Commissioner (East), went to Cama Hospital. The book was released on Tuesday by noted social activist Aruna Roy and former Mumbai Police commissioner Julio Rebeiro in Mumbai. According to wireless excerpts between the control room and the eastern region, Vinita, who accessed the conversations using RTI Act, said Maria had asked Ashok to go to Cama hospital as firing was on by the terrorists.
The martyred IPS officer's widow also claimed that her husband Ashok Kamte had been directed by Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor (currently DG-housing) to head towards Trident Hotel, another place attacked by terrorists. Gafoor too stirred a controversy recently in an interview to a news magazine, where was quoted as saying "a section of senior police officers refused to be on the ground and take on the terrorists. By doing so, they chose to ignore the need of the hour." "When I met Hasan Gafoor, the commissioner said he was not aware as to how Ashok landed up at Cama hospital, when he himself had summoned him to the Trident Hotel. But somehow, beyond a point, Gafoor appeared unwilling to go into the details. I was disappointed," Vinita said. After the release of her book, she said there were still many unanswered questions about the circumstances in which her husband was killed.

BJP looking for Leader after lossing Civic poles in Rajasthan

After loosing civic poles in rajasthan, now BJP is loosing base in state. It’s been over a month since Vasundhara Raje resigned from the post of leader of the opposition in Rajasthan, but no replacement has been found till now and BJP is looking for a better replacement who can bring some smile on BJP face at State. BJP not only lost all four mayoral posts in Jaipur, Kota, Jodhpur and Bikaner, it suffered the ignominy of ceding the job for the first time in Jaipur and Kota. Elections for the post of the mayor in these four municipal corporations were held directly.
From 11 municipal councils, Congress bagged six while BJP had to rest content with a mere three. Vasundhara loyalists complain that the former Rajasthan chief minister, who was forced to step down from the opposition leader’s post on October 23, was deliberately kept away from campaigning for the party in the municipal polls. In the absence of any charismatic or powerful leader to steer BJP’s campaigning, it just wilted under the Congress onslaught. Local RSS leaders, who were instrumental in having Ms Raje removed from their way, have been pushing the name of former state home minister Gulab Chand Kataria, but the BJP’s central leadership is not said to be in favour of the proposal. BJP may bring some surprising name in State.
