Modi-Sanjay Joshi Poster war reaches Jaipur

BJP's poster-war has reached Rajasthan with posters supporting former general secretary of the party, Sanjay Joshi, appearing outside the party's state office here this morning. A few saffron-colour posters with pictures of Joshi and lotus were pasted anonymously in the night outside the office which read in Hindi 'Pehle Joshi Fir Modi' (First Joshi then Modi). The posters were, however, removed by the party workers today. When contacted, the party's state president Arun Chaturvedi said that he was out of the state and not aware of the posters.
Party vice president and MLA Digambar Singh also expressed ignorance about the posters. Earlier anti-Modi and pro-Sanjay Joshi posters had appeared in several places in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi which were critical of Modi's style of functioning and prime ministerial ambition. Joshi, an RSS hand and friend-turned-foe of Modi, had recently quit the BJP

New Tatkal Ticket Rules, Booking Timings from 10th July 2012

New IIT JEE Pattern from 2013 - JEE Main + Advanced

New IIT JEE Pattern: Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Council Wednesday struck a compromise with the human resource development ministry on the new pattern of entrance examinations. Here is Highlights of New Pattern for IIT:
* There will be two exams, the joint entrance examination (JEE) "main" followed by the JEE "advanced".
* These combine the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) and the IIT-JEE, with the "main" exam being equivalent to AIEEE, and "advanced" being equivalent to the IIT-JEE.
* There will be a "suitable" time gap between the two exams, though it was not clarified how much.
* Only top 150,000 candidates (including all categories) from the JEE "main" will be qualified to appear in the JEE "advanced" examination.
* Admission to IITs will be based on the rank in the "advanced" exam.
* However, only students who come in among the top 20 percent scorers in their respective board will be considered eligible for the IITs.
* The "advanced" exam will be held by the IITs, just like the IIT- JEE. It will be conducted by a Joint Admission Board (JAB) and Joint Implementation Committee of the IITs, the same which so far conducted the JEE.
* The JEE "main" will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and it will coordinate with the IITs. It will be implemented from 2013.
* Admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) will be based on the "main" exam score. A final decision on methodology of admission is pending. A meeting of representatives from the NITs is scheduled for July 4.
* Admission to several deemed universities will also be on the basis of scores in the "main" exam, which earlier took students on basis of AIEEE scores. A minimum percentage criteria will be fixed for these too.

Pakistan Supreme Court disqualifies PM Gilani

Pakistan Supreme Court(SC) today disqualified Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in a stunning move likely to throw the country into fresh turmoil two months after the premier was convicted of contempt. The supreme court on April 26 convicted Gilani for refusing to ask Swiss authorities to reopen corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari in a highly politicised case. Under the constitution, anyone convicted of defaming or ridiculing the judiciary is barred from being an MP.
Gilani was convicted in April for refusing to open a corruption probe against his boss, President Asif Ali Zardari. He has been refusing to step down. The Supreme Court ruling came in response to petitions filed against Gilani for not standing down after that conviction. Party supporters have said that they believe they have the support in parliament to elect a new prime minister in the event of Gilani's disqualification. But senior opposition politicians, including cricket legend Imran Khan and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, challenged the ruling. The allegations against Zardari date back to the 1990s, when he and his late wife, former premier Benazir Bhutto, are suspected of using Swiss bank accounts to launder about $12 million allegedly paid in bribes by companies seeking customs inspection contracts. The Swiss shelved the cases in 2008 when Zardari became president.

Fitch Ratings downgraded India to BBB-

Fitch Ratings downgraded India's economic outlook to negative from stable, saying the country's growth outlook could deteriorate if policy-making and governance do not improve. The rating agency affirmed the economy's long-term foreign- and local-currency issuer default ratings (IDRs) at 'BBB-', the lowest investment grade. Fitch said the outlook revision reflected heightened risks that India's medium- to long-term growth potential will gradually deteriorate if further structural reforms were not hastened, including measures to enhance the effectiveness of the government and create a more positive operational environment for business and private investments. "India faces an awkward combination of slowing growth and still-elevated inflation. India also faces structural challenges surrounding its investment climate in the form of corruption and inadequate economic reforms," Fitch said in a statement. The "negative" outlook also reflected India's limited progress on fiscal consolidation and, in particular, on reducing the central government deficit despite improvement in the financial health of state governments, it said.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Monday Fitch has not taken note of recent structural reforms in the economy including the strengthening of public finances, after the rating agency cut its outlook on Asia's third largest economy . "The concerns expressed by Fitch on the economic growth potential, inflationary pressures, and weak public finances are based on earlier data. Government has already taken note of such concerns," Mukherjee said in a statement.

HPCL may setup Oil refinery in Barmer

State-owned Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) has expressed interest in setting up a 9 million tonne unit at the site of the massive oil find at Barmer district after ONGC deterring from building a refinery in Rajasthan, HPCL, which owns a refinery at Mumbai and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and is equal partner in the just commissioned Bhatinda refinery in Punjab, is keen to take up the project, sources privy to the development said. Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC), which owns 30 per cent interest in the Barmer oilfields of Cairn India, had in 2005 committed to building the refinery but later started soft- peddling the project. Cairn India, which holds 70 per cent interest in the fields, currently produces about 175,000 barrels per day oil (8.75 million tonnes a year) from the Rajasthan fields and has potential to go up to 300,000 bpd (15 million tonnes).
Production from Mangala oilfield, the largest of the 24 finds in the block, started on August 2009 and currently Mangala, Bhagyam and Aishwariya fields are producing about 175,000 bpd. As per the financial analysis of the merchant banker, the project was not viable on standalone basis and required interest free loan of approximately Rs 1,100 crore per annum for 15 years from Rajasthan government as per ET.

He said conditions were favourable for further advance of monsoon into some more parts of the central Arabian Sea, coastal Karnataka, Goa and parts of south Konkan.
South-west mansoon is one of main source of rain in western and whole rajasthan which takes nearly 15 days to reach rajasthan from Kerala. The possible date for mansoon to enter in Rajasthan is approx. 20 June 2012.  IMD officials brushed aside concerns over delay and insisted that the progress of the monsoon was well within the limits of the forecast model. Monsoon trackers said Mumbai could get its first seasonal rainfall by the weekend but the same could not be said about interior parts of the peninsular region. IMD data showed Thiruvananthapuram in southern Kerala getting very little rains as compared to central and northern parts of the state. Good rains in June are crucial for agriculture operations in south peninsular region, including Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Maharashtra. Monsoon rains are crucial for agriculture as only 40 per cent of the cultivable area is under irrigation.
