Chidambaram say SORRY at Kandhmal, Orrisa

Union home minister P Chidambaram on Friday apologized to the Christians who have been victims of communal violence in this district and asked those living in different relief camps to return to their villages as their safety and security would be fully guaranteed by both the state as well as central government. Chidambaram said, “I am sorry for what had happened. Those who had done this will be punished. Please go back to your villages and start your life once again. I have come here to look at your conditions. The Centre and the Orissa government will do everything to remove your difficulties and provide full protection.” “You must be confident that you are safe...wrongdoers will be punished. There is a need for all sections of society to live together,” the home minister who was on a two-day visit to Orissa said. He also asked to build their churches damaged during the communal violence and practice their religion fearlessly.
A number of churches were burnt and thousands of Christians, mainly tribals, had to flee their villages after being targeted by extremist Hindus in the wake of the killing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Swami Lakshmanand Saraswati by Maoists in August last year. Chidambaram’s visit to these camps assumes significance in view of the political vacuum in the entire district which remained neglected by all the parties, including Congress, in the aftermath of the communal violence. Tribal Christians had to face the wrath of tribal Hindus after the killing of the VHP leader as his supporters thought that Laxmananad Saraswati was killed by those naxals who are mainly from the minority community. The region still faces a clear divide between the two communities over the issue of conversion and re-conversion.

It was a spirited chase by the hosts, for whom Shivnarain Chanderpaul top scored with 63 and Denesh Ramdin played a sparkling 29-run knock down the order. While Ashish nehra make a good comeback and took 3 Wicket in 7 over.

Mansoon delayed in Rajasthan, People worried

"Mansoon" a word that matter for Indian public more than Stock Market, IT and Business, but this time indian mansoon is delayed and will change everything in market. Country receiving 45% less than normal rain in June this year, the UPA government is clearly worried as a failed monsoon will undoubtedly hinder the prospect of economic recovery. As per the Indian Metrological Department (IMD), rainfall so far has been well below normal and the onset of monsoon in large rain-dependent agricultural states of central India has been delayed, forcing water levels to fall sharply and hampering irrigation in many parts. State such as AP, Orissa, MP, Gujrat and Maharastra are totatlly dependent on Mansoon.
Last hope for these states is Southwest monsoon that will possibly reach in the month of July. Further delay in the monsoons could result in states reducing the supply of water for irrigation and conserving it for drinking purposes instead, as the individual states manage the water levels in their respective reservoirs. The government is now working on a comprehensive contingency plan to tackle the possibility of the crucial south-west monsoon being delayed beyond June 23 in the central and northern regions of the country. Condition in rajasthan is getting worst as water level is going down and still there is no rain in whole state. 90% of rajasthan's agriculture depends on mansoon.

England won Woman's T20 World Cup

England' s women added the World Twenty20 title to their World Cup crown with a convincing six-wicket win over New Zealand at Lord's. England fast bowler Katherine Brunt took three wickets for just six runs as New Zealand were dismissed for a 85 and the hosts reached their modest victory target of 86 for the loss of four wickets with three overs to spare.
It was the second time this year that England had defeated New Zealand in the climax of a major tournament after their four-wicket win in the 50-over World Cup final in Sydney in March. Claire Taylor, dropped before she scored, hit the winning boundary off Nicola Browne to finish on 39 not out after making an unbeaten 76 in Friday's eight-wicket semi-final win over Australia at the Oval.

New turn in Varun Gandhi's hate speech CD

The investigation into the alleged hate speeches given by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi in his constituency Pilibhit has come out with two conflicting versions. Sources in the Central Scientific Forensic Laboratory (CFSL) in Chandigarh have told CNN-IBN that a CD which contained Varun’s voice had been doctored. Sources in the Chandigarh laboratory say the voice in the CD matches Varun’s but it could have been edited to join sentences and make it look like one continuous speech by the Pilibhit MP. The Chandigarh laboratory’s opinion contradicts what a FSL laboratory in Lucknow has said. The Lucknow laboratory said videotapes showing Varun giving speeches were not doctored and it was Varun’s voice.
Varun’s mother, BJP leader Maneka Gandhi, on Sunday rejected the Lucknow laboratory’s report. “The entire tape is doctored, words have been interchanged… the forensic report is a one-sided version,” Maneka, MP from Aonla in Uttar Pradesh, told journalists on Sunday before her party’s national executive in Delhi.

ICC T20 World cup at 7:30 PM IST

Pakistan will be desperate to shed their runners-up tag by pulling off a win against a rampaging Sri Lanka when the two teams meet in the Twenty20 World Cup final at the Lord's on Sunday. Pakistan, who lost the Cup by a whisker to India in the inaugural edition in South Africa, have played little international cricket since then because of political turmoil back home and would be eager to win the honour in a bid to bring the sport back on track in their country. The ease with which Kumara Sangakkara's men thrashed the West Indies in yesterday's semi-final at the Oval should also be a matter of concern for Younis Khan.
Pakistan lost to Steve Waugh's Australia in the 1999 ODI World Cup final at the same venue while in 2007 they were deprived of the Cup by Mahendra Singh Dhoni's young India. Revenge will also be on the mind of Younis on Sunday as they were handed a 19-run defeat by the islanders in their Super Eight match on 12th June.
Pakistan: Younis Khan (capt), Abdul Razzaq, Ahmed Shehzad, Fawad Alam, Iftikhar Anjum, Kamran Akmal, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Aamer, Saeed Ajmal, Salman Butt, Shahid Afridi, Shahzaib Hasan, Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul.
Sri Lanka: Kumar Sangakkara (Capt), Muttiah Muralitharan, Indika de Saram, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardene, Nuwan Kulasekara, Farveez Maharoof, Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, Ajantha Mendis, Jehan Mubarak, Chamara Silva, Thilan Thushara, Isuru Udana.
Match will start at 7.30 pm as per indian time.

Rajnath Singh takes blame for LS Poll defeat

BJP national executive met in New Delhi on Saturday, party president Rajnath Singh said there would be no compromise on ideology. "There is no need to blame people for poll loss. As the BJP president, I take responsibility for poor election results," he said. He also said that people like said Atal, Advani and Upadhyay raised the party and their role couldn't be questioned. The BJP held a press conference at the party headquarters after the meeting, where party spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad described Hindutva as eternal. "It is not a defeat for the party at the national level and India is going toward bipolar politics," he said.
He also said that the party believed in collective responsibility. Over the last few weeks, there has been one showdown after another, with many senior BJP leaders like Jaswant Singh, Arun Shourie and Yashwant Sinha raising their voices of rebellion. While their letters criticised the way the party approached the election campaign, many felt that the source of discontent was actually a war of succession.

Srilanka will meet Pakistan in ICC T20 World cup Final

Sri Lankan tiger crushed West Indies by 57 runs in a lop-sided semifinal to set up a summit clash with Pakistan in the final of the Twenty20 World Cup at Lord's on Sunday. Tillakaratne Dilshan hit a sublime unbeaten 96 to help the Lankans overcome a mid-innings collapse and post 158 for five. And when they returned to defend the total, Angelo Mathews sent down a sensational first over, claiming three crucial wickets, and West Indies could never really recover from the setbacks. Chris Gayle (63 not out off 50 balls) waged a lonely battle but none of his teammates could manage double digit score as West Indies eventually folded for 101 in 17.4 overs.
Opening the attack for Sri Lanka, Mathews emerged as the man with the golden arm with every second ball of his first over managing a deflection before crashing into the stumps. Xavier Marshall's tentative bottom edge brought his peril, Lendl Simmons lost his leg stump after the ball had clipped his thigh pad and Dwayne Bravo became the third scoreless batsman, caught in two minds whether to play or leave before dragging it onto his stumps. The long and the short of it was that West Indies had to pay with three top order wickets for their first run. Now Srilanka will meet Pakistan in final, that will be played at lords on Sunday.

Speaking to media persons in Mumbai shortly after her arrival here on Friday afternoon, Vyas said this was necessary in the interest of quick justice to both parties in the case. "Moreover, in such cases, prolonged trial could result in the victim and witnesses being influenced or pressurised," Vyas pointed out.
She said if quick justice can be rendered through a fast track court, it is good for the victim and also for the accused - if he is proved innocent. The NCW chairperson has come to Mumbai to meet the victim who alleges she was raped by Shiney and lodged a complaint against him last Sunday. Vyas also expressed her willingness to meet Shiney's wife Anupam. The victim's parents, who live in Kokbaan village in neighbouring Raigad district, also arrived in the city on Friday morning to meet the NCW chief.

Ban on Chinese Mobile, toys and Dairy Products

Indian government on Wednesday put quality restrictions on mobile phones, dairy products and toys in a measure aimed mainly to block their imports from China. The Directorate-General of Foreign Trade said mobile handsets without the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number, which helps authorities to track the sale and use of the phones, cannot be imported from now on. An estimated eight lakh such phones come into the country every month from China. These are unbranded and cost a lot less than the branded variety.
Security agencies had raised concern over the use of these phones, many of which, they said, were being used by terrorists to set off bombs and communicate among themselves.
