Germany wins Football World Cup 2014

Germany wins Football World Cup 2014 by 1-0 with the help of Germany's Mario Götze kicks in second half of extra time against Argentina in final of the FIFA World Cup 2014. Germany is the first side from Europe to win a World Cup in the Americas, determined that a golden generation will finally get its reward after a string of near-misses. Messi was declared as the Player of the tournament and awarded GoldenBall. Germany won their fourth World Cup after a 24-year wait. Incidentally, this is the first World Cup for unified Germany, the previous three having been won by West Germany in 1954, 1974 and 1990. Lionel Messi, arguably the best player on the planet, was denied a fairytale end to his third World Cup campaign and a chance to match the heroics of countryman Diego Maradona. Argentina in 1986, had gone home from Mexico with the World Cup and the legend of Maradona's hand of god. On Sunday evening they went back just with the aching pain of letting the Cup slip away from their grasp and the tragic tale of Higuain's feet of clay.
At the final whistle, Germany players fell into a pile in the middle of the pitch in celebration. Messi walked past them with his hands on his hips — still in the shadow of his compatriot Diego Maradona, who led his country to the 1986 title. Goetze went on as a substitute for Miroslav Klose toward the end of regulation time and his fresh legs made the difference. Andre Schuerrle broke down the left flank, sending his cross into the area, and the Bayern Munich midfielder did the rest with a clinical finish. The goal echoed that of Andres Iniesta four years ago, when the midfielder scored in similar fashion but from the other side of the area to give Spain a 1-0 extra-time win over the Netherlands. According to Germany coach Joachim Loew, it was exactly as he’d planned when he made the substitution. “I said to Mario Goetze, ‘Okay, show to the world that you’re better than Messi and you can decide the World Cup. You have all the possibilities to do that,’ ” Loew said. “I had a good feeling with him.”
