'Peacocks Don't Have Sex' Rajasthan Judge's Remark Stumps Twitter

Rajasthan high court judge Mahesh Chand Sharma said on Wednesday that a Peacocks don't have sex and it was because of this “quality“ that it was declared India's national bird. That bizarre remark came from a Rajasthan High Court judge and it kept Twitter hooked to their keyboards for hours. That comment was made by Judge Mahesh Chandra Sharma who, on Wednesday, recommended that the cow be given the status of India's national animal. In his argument, the judge compared the cow to the national bird, the peacock, and described both the species as "pious".
Elaborating on how peacock is considered holy because of its so-called celibacy, Sharma said: “Mor ka pankh bhi bhagwan Krishna ne isi liye lagaya. Sadhu-santon aur mandiron mein issi liye mor ko kaam mein liya jata hai -brahmcharya hai.(Lord Krishna wore the peacock feather for this reason. The feather is used by saints and priests and in temples because peacock is a celibate.)“.

Collector-SP Conference Inaugurated in Jaipur

Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has said that with honesty, hard work and commitment the state government was successful in delivering good governance to the public. Now, works needed to speed up further for completion within time limit and ensure that rest of the promises were kept, she said.  Smt. Raje said that satisfaction of the public was the best parameter of good governance and it was observed on the basis of ease of grievance redressal. "I am happy that we have fulfilled this parameter," she said. She was addressing the inaugural session of the Collector-SP Conference at the CMO on Wednesday.
The CM said that besides effective orators, the officers should also be good listeners. Then, the commoners would be able to state their grievances to them. She said that the district administration had to be quick and alert for their routine duties so that good interaction could be ensured between the government and the public. She said that instead of talking about dearth of resources, maximum results should be ensured with available limited resources. Smt. Raje asked the district collectors to identify talented officers and employees and utilize their talent for sensitive and effective governance. She said that the innovative practices and new initiatives should be shared with the Chief Secretary to implement these in other districts. Such ideas with potential could be suggested to the Centre and the other states as well, she added.
The Chief Minister said that many young officers of Team Rajasthan were well-verse with use of technology, while senior officers' experience would be an advantage for extending good governance to the public. She urged the collectors to be receptive to new ideas and think out of box. She said that as per the parameter set during the last Collector-SP Conference in November 2016, Chittorgarh, Hanumangarh, Pali, Ajmer and Bhilwara had topped the districts respectively in effective implementation of central and the state government schemes. She hoped that the other districts would also progress in executing the government schemes and programmes effectively and adopt novelty.  Smt. Raje said that the Collectors should sit with the officials of various state departments to coordinate and resolve the pending issues. Before this, Chief Secretary Shri OP Meena sketched an outline of the Conference.  Members of the Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and senior most officers of different departments are participating in this convention.

Cabinet approves 10 new atomic reactors, including 4 in Mahi Banswara

Union cabinet on 17th May cleared a proposal to indigenously build 10 atomic reactors, the largest ever approval granted for such facilities in one go. Once completed, the 10 reactors of 700 MW each will give much needed fillip to the domestic nuclear industry. The Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) will be developed by the Department of Atomic Energy. India currently has installed nuclear power capacity of 6780 MW from 22 operational plants. Another 6700 MW of nuclear power is expected to be added by 2021-22 when currently under-construction projects go onstream in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.  The ten reactors will be installed in Kaiga in Karnataka (Unit 5 and 6), Chutka in Madhya Pradesh (Unit 1 and 2), Gorakhpur in Haryana (Unit 3 and 4) and Mahi Banswara in Rajasthan (Unit 1, 2, 3 and 4).
This Project will bring about substantial economies of scale and maximise cost and time efficiencies by adopting fleet mode for execution. It is expected to generate more than 33,400 jobs in direct and indirect employment. With manufacturing orders to domestic industry, it will be a major step towards strengthening India’s credentials as a major nuclear manufacturing powerhouse. The ten reactors will be part of India’s latest design of 700 MW PHWR fleet with state-of-art technology meeting the highest standards of safety. The approval also marks a statement of strong belief in the capability of India’s scientific community to build our technological capacities. The design and development of this project is a testament to the rapid advances achieved by India’s nuclear scientific community and industry. It underscores the mastery our nuclear scientists have attained over all aspects of indigenous PHWR technology. India’s record of building and operating PHWR reactors over the last nearly forty years is globally acclaimed.
