He added that doctors at hospitals in other districts of the state also have started attending patients. Meanwhile, some 6,000 government doctors continued their strike. A delegation of doctors on Thursday met Minister Jitendra Singh and demanded that the state government lift the RESMA and look into their demands.  A total of 74 patients have died in hospitals across the state so far due to absence of doctors in last 10 days.  "We will be forced to take strict action against doctors for carrying out such strikes. Australia win First test by 122 runs

India's famed batting line-up produced yet another spineless display to crash to an embarrassing 122-run defeat in the first cricket Test and hand Australia a 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series in Melbourne on Thursday.  Chasing a target of 292 in the second innings, India's top-order collapsed like a proverbial house of cards against the pace trio of James Pattinson (4/53), Peter Siddle (3/42) and Ben Hilfenhaus (2/39) to be bundled out for a paltry 169 in 47.5 overs on the final session of the penultimate day. India were always up against history as no side since 1963 has made more than 250 runs in the fourth innings at MCG to win a Test match.
Sachin Tendulkar promised some ray of hope during his little cameo of 32 runs, but the rest of the top-order batsmen cut a sorry figure against the Australian quicks and at one stage the tourists had lost four wickets for just 22 runs. Openers Virender Sehwag (7) and Gautam Gambhir (13) and the senior trio of Rahul Dravid (10), Tendulkar and VVS Laxman (1) all failed to save the day for India and departed inside the 90-run mark. Young Virat Kohli (0) suffered his second failure of the match and made matters worse by showing his displeasure at a plumb leg before decision. Ravichandran Ashwin (30) rode his luck for a while and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (23) was street-smart during his stay, but the task proved to be too tall for them to achieve once the top-order departed early.

Resident doctors in Rajasthan call off strike

Resident doctors of the Rajasthan state called off their strike late on Tuesday night. They ended their stir unconditionally in the interest of patients, health minister Durru Miyan said. The nearly 3,200 residents associated with seven medical colleges had joined the strike in support of in-service doctors six days ago. Their decision to report back for work would restore services in major medical collges of the state, including SMS Hospital in Jaipur. Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) sought release of arrested doctors and revocation of RESMA. “We will ask our members across India to strike work if the demand is not met,” IMA said.
Despite assurance by a delegation of resident doctors to call off their strike from today, majority of them did not resume duty and continued their protest in support of agitating government medicos. Out of around 450 resident doctors, only 35 resumed duty in Jaipur and the situation remained almost same in other parts of the state, official sources said here. A three-member delegation of resident doctors, who as a sign of solidarity had joined the strike of in-service government doctors on December 21, met the state medical and health minister Duru Miyan at midnight and assured him of calling off their strike unconditionally from Wednesday morning. However, it looks like the strike continued.

Anna Hazare ends fast, cancels jail bharo campaign

Smarting under poor response and bad health, Anna Hazare today called off his fast a day ahead of schedule and repeated his threat to campaign against Congress in the five poll-bound states for not brining a strong Lokpal. At MMRDA Grounds this evening, he said,   "It won't be proper to have jail bharo agitation now...instead, we will go for voters' awareness programme in five states." His closest aide, Arvind Kejriwal, said the jail bharo or civil unrest movement will be launched "later at an appropriate time."  For now, the activists' agitation against the government pauses. They will strategize about their plans to take on the Congress now via elections.  Last night, doctors said Anna was seriously unwell. His blood pressure was rising, and he was feverish. This morning, they warned that if he persists with his fast, he faces the risk of a kidney failure.  Members of his core group say the activist may have to be hospitalized.
Looking weak, Anna said this evening that for the upcoming state elections, he said he will campaign against all those "traitors" who did not support the Lokpal Bill. "The Congress has cheated us more than any other party, including the BJP," he said.  Anna began his fourth fast this year to protest against the government's version of the Lokpal Bill that was cleared with amendments last night by the Lok Sabha.  To become a law, it must now be passed by the Rajya SAbha. The Lokpal is a new national anti-corruption agency with nine members that will investigate politicians and bureaucrats for corruption.  Anna says the Lokpal Bill creates an ombudsman with no power and limited authority, especially because it has not been given an investigating agency to tackle complaints of graft. Mr Kejriwal, said that as the ruling party, the Congress must accept the responsibility for a weak Lokpal, and the party will be singled out in Team Anna's campaign for the elections.

Lok Sabha passes Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill

A landmark bill for creation of Lokpal was passed by the Lok Sabha on Tuesday night with the government making it clear that setting up of Lokayuktas by the states would not be mandatory, amending a contentious provision in view of opposition from allies and others. The Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill, 2011 was approved after the government moved a few other key amendments, including keeping the defence forces and coast guard personnel out of the purview of the anti-graft ombudsman and increasing the exemption time of former MPs from five to seven years. A number of amendments moved by Opposition, including corporates, media and NGOs receiving donations, were defeated. Samajwadi Party and BSP staged a walkout, protesting against their demands not being met. During the animated over 10-hour debate, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked parties to "rise above partisan politics" to demonstrate to the people of the country that "this House means business" in its effort to combat corruption. He said a "holistic" approach was needed to deal with the "cancer" of corruption but rejected demands for bringing CBI under the purview of Lokpal as he warned that no entity should be created inconsistent with the Constitutional framework. Capping the 10-hour animated debate during which several parties, including BJP, BJD, JDU, RJD, SP, TDP and Left said the bill was weak and wanted it withdrawn, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee rejected the contention that the legislation had been brought in "haste" or under pressure. Allaying fears of several parties, including UPA constituents Trinamool and DMK, that the provision for setting up Lokayuktas was an "attack" on federal structure, he said the government had made amendments stating that notification would not be issue without the consent of state governments.  The amendment, along with some others, was decided during an emergency meeting the Prime Minister held with party Chief Sonia Gandhi and other senior leaders ahead of the voting in view of opposition by allies.
This is the ninth Lokpal Bill introduced in government in a series that started as early as 1968 and ended in 2001. Seven of them lapsed with the dissolution of the Lok Sabha while one was withdrawn. "There are some very special moments in the life of a nation. This is one such moment. The nation waits with bated breath how the collective wisdom of this House will be reflected in the vote at the end of the debate on the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill, 2011," Singh said. Noting that the broad provisions of this Bill have been vigorously debated both in the public domain and by political parties, he underlined that the task of legislation was "very serious business and must eventually be performed by all of us who have been constitutionally assigned this duty." In an apparent message to Hazare who has been pressing his demands with regard to Lokpal, Singh said, "others can persuade and have their voices heard. But the decision must rest with us." He warned that "no entity should be created inconsistent with our constitutional framework and charged with onerous executive responsibilities without any accountability... Let us not create something that will destroy all that we cherish all in the name of combating corruption. Let us remember that the road to hell is paved with good intentions." He said, "Today we are given to believe that a Government that is directly elected by the people and accountable to it cannot be trusted but a body that will not derive its legitimacy from the people directly or be accountable to it could be trusted to wield its immense powers with honour and trust."

Describing the doctors' strike as unfortunate, Gehlot said, "The government is making all efforts to keep the situation under control and alternate arrangements have been made in view of the unfortunate strike." The medical crisis in the state deepened on Friday after 5,000 medicos , who are on strike demanding pay hike and time-bound promotions, submitted their resignations. All government doctors working in hospitals, dispensaries, primary health centres and resident doctors of all the six medical colleges in the state have been on strike since 21st December.
Taking up cudgels for the agitating doctors, the Indian Medical Association on Sunday criticised Rajasthan government's stand over the strike and demanded revocation of Rajasthan Essential Services Maintenance Act (RESMA) for medical services. "The government is following a repressive policy which is highly condemnable and it should lift RESMA so that doctors can openly come for talks with the government," Secretary of IMA Rajasthan S S Agrawal said. Demanding that doctors arrested under RESMA be freed immediately, Agrawal asked the government to invite the agitators for dialogue to "understand their grievances". State health minister Duru Miyan said the government was already in talks with the agitating doctors and expressed hope that a consensus would be arrived at soon. The government has so far suspended 40 doctors and services of around a dozen government medicos are likely to be terminated soon, official sources said. Rajasthan doctors' strike dippen further when more than 5000 doctors Resign while 9 doctors suspended meanwhile Rajasthan govt recruits 500 new doctors and 2000 more recruitment on card.  The statewide protest by doctors scaled into a full-fledged war on Friday with more than 5000 in-service doctors tendering mass resignations from their posts. “A large number of people are getting affected due to strike. The move will provide instant relief to patients,” said a senior government official. Meanwhile, the government has also decided to hire services of retired doctors in the state. Specialist doctors hired will get a remuneration of Rs 3,000 per day while general MBBS doctors will get Rs 2,000 per day. Performing night duty will fetch additional Rs 500. “The chief minister has asked to make alternative arrangements with immediate effect. In next couple of hours, the arrangements will be completed,” said senior government officials.
All the government doctors working in hospitals, dispensaries, primary health centres and resident doctors ofall the six medical colleges are on strike since December 21. Private doctors and medical teachers also stopped worktoday for four and two hours respectively in support ofin-service doctors who are demanding redressal of theirlong-pending demands of pay hike and time-bound promotions. A representative of the All Rajasthan in-serviceDoctors' Association handed over resignations of 5,000 doctorsof the state medical and health department. "Dr Durgashankar Saini met the director and handedover to him resignations of 5,000 doctors of variousdistricts. Several other doctors in different districts havealso forwarded their resignation to respective districtcollectors," Vice-President of the Association Mahesh Sharma claimed. This strike remind us the last year strike of doctors. About 50 patients died in Rajasthan after doctors called a similar strike following police assault on their colleagues in September 2010. This time govt is looking tough to end such strike by doctors in future.

Doctors strike claim Nine life in Rajasthan, RESMA invoked

Nine more people lost their lives on Friday allegedly due to the lack of medical attention in the hospitals they were admitted or taken to by their relatives. The death toll during the three days of doctors' strike has now reached 20 in state. Single instance of victims succumbing to injuries was reported from Jaipur, Pali, Kota and Hanumangarh. Two deaths each were reported from Ajmer and Bikaner.
The doctors working in government primary healthcare centres, hospitals and dispensaries across the northern state are demanding better wages and promotion opportunities for themselves. "We have tried to take all their demands into account and yet they continue to be on strike. "I think they should think about the well being of their patients and revoke their strike and go back to work," said Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan Chief Minister, reported the Times of India. Surgeries postponed and patients suffering without medical care forced the authorities to deploy army doctors and retired medical officers as an interim measure. Under severe public pressure, the state government invoked the Rajasthan Essential Services Maintenance Emergency Act (RESMA) and arrested 200 doctors for failing to report for duty. Meanwhile, the All India Radio reported that medical teachers were also going on indefinite strike from today, which is likely to further strain medical services in the state. About 50 patients died in Rajasthan after doctors called a similar strike following police assault on their colleagues in September 2010.

Bhanwari Devi case: Sahiram Bishnoi surrender

Sahiram Bishnoi, the key suspect in the case of Rajasthan missing nurse Bhanwari Devi, surrendered before a court here Friday morning, sources said. He was remanded in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody till Jan 2. In a major breakthrough in the Bhanwari Devi case, main accused Sahiram Bishnoi surrendered before a Jodhpur court on Friday. The CBI, which is investigating the case, had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information on Bishnoi who was absconding since Bhanwari went missing on September 1. Bishnoi has been remanded to CBI custody till January 2. The police believe Bishnoi was paid to orchestrate Bhanwari’s abduction and murder.
Bhanwari, a nurse who had worked in several local folk albums allegedly had dangerous liaisons with politicians, disappeared when reports of a CD of herself with former Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna became the talk of the town. The CBI, which took over the probe in October, said Bhanwari tried to blackmail Maderna by threatening to make their relationship public. Maderna, who was sacked from the government following allegations of his involvement in the case, was arrested on December 3. He was reportedly introduced to Bhanwari by another Congress leader Luni MLA Malkhan Singh, who was also arrested earlier this week. Sahiram, a former deputy zilla pramukh of Jodhpur, is said to be very close to both Maderna and Singh. The CBI said Sahiram is the link between the people who carried out the abduction and probable killing of the nurse. The agency has chargesheeted three people in the case so far.

Cabinet approves 4.5% Reservation to Muslims from OBC Quota

Union cabinet on Thursday approved 4.5 percent quota for the minorities from the 27 percent quota given to other backward classes. The cabinet met in New Delhi to to discuss the issue of reservation for minorities in the field of jobs. The decision assumes significance with the govt bringing the issue to the fore by creating provisions for reservations to minorities in the Lokpal Bench and the search committee. This move comes ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The Union Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, took the decision that would pave way for reservation in government jobs and educational institutions for minorities as defined in section 2 (C) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Zoroastrians (Parsis) are notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the Act.
The decision is based on the recommendation of the National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities. "The caste and communities of the said minorities which are included in the central list of OBCs notified from time to time by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment shall be covered by the said sub quota," an official source said. Sources said the decision was unanimous, though Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi (Trinamool Congress) was not present in the meeting

Rajasthan Govt to provide 200 more medicines free of cost

Rajasthan is all set to provide 400 types of medicines free to patients at government-run hospitals from next month, adding 200 more to its original list and carrying forward a hugely popular initiative. The state government had launched a scheme Oct 2 to provide free medicines to people below and above the poverty line and currently 200 types of generic medicines are being provided free of cost to patients. "The free medicine scheme has been very well accepted by the masses and now we plan to make it more beneficial by adding 200 new generic medicines and increasing the number of counters at government-run hospitals," Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot told IANS. The drugs are being distributed through special counters set up at over 13,800 government health centres, dispensaries and hospitals across the state. "The state government has earmarked an annual budget of Rs.200 crore for the project and 40 million people are likely to benefit from the scheme each year," said the chief minister.
The popularity of the scheme can be gauged from the fact that the number of patients registering at the out-patient department (OPD) in some of the hospitals has increased by almost 50-100 percent. In Jaipur's SMS Hospital, the OPD patients figure has almost doubled. "In September, we were getting on an average of around 2,700 patients daily; now this figure is over 5,000," said L.C. Sharma, superintendent of SMS Hospital, Jaipur. Similarly, in Chittorgarh's government hospitals the average increase in October in comparison to September 2011 was 71 percent. "Compared to the September 2011 figures, the OPD load increased by almost 80 percent in the district hospital and by 62 percent in the Women and Children Hospital in Chittorgarh," said an activist with a local NGO. However, he said unavailability of generic medicines and long queues of patients due to lack of counters and shortage of doctors are still major challenges for the project. "We are aware of the situation and are taking steps to improve the services. We want to provide quality medical and healthcare facilities to everybody in the state," Gehlot added. He said the scheme was a major step towards providing social security to citizens.

Shahrukh, Priyanka in Jaipur to promote 'Don 2'

Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar meet fans in Jaipur as a part of the campaign to promote Don 2 in seven cities across India. The promotional was held at Crystal Palm mall in Jaipur. However, Shahrukh Khan won’t be able to make it on time as he was stuck in Ahmedabad as the plane developed a technical snag. “Still stuck in plane with spoilt flaps can't take off from ahmedabad. Waiting for plane from mumbai..will meet all jaipur now in the morning... Sorry guys one of those technical plane thingies. Will make it up to u guys and girls at the mall in the morning...reaching jaipur by 1 am” Shahrukh wrote on his twitter page. The programme at the mall is planned around 11am.
Talking to PTI, Shahrukh Khan said, "It was a nice experience of shooting in a jail in Malaysia and what I learnt is that one should never do a thing which may end in imprisonment." Shahrukh Khan added, “The prison we filmed in Malaysia was one of the advanced kinds having facilities for criminals, but when one is lodged in jail, his freedom ends... and we felt it during our shooting amid tight security arrangements." However, Shahrukh was scheduled to come to Jaipur on Thursday evening, but he was stuck in Ahmedabad due to some technical snag in their aircraft and got delayed. Director Farhan Akhtar and actress Priyanka Chopra also attended the publicity event of Don 2, which was at Crystal Palm mall. Don 2 is slated to release on December 23.

Pakistani Actress Veena Malik goes missing

The controversial Pakistani actress  Veena Malik who is presently in Mumbai has mysteriously gone missing. As per Prateik Mehta business manager of the actress and Hemant Madhukar a filmmaker, Veena is untraceable since early morning of December 16. Veena alias Zahida Malik who is shooting for a horror flick 'Mumbai 125 kilometres' at a location in Goregoan (West) suddenly disappeared. "Veena without giving her last shot at 5am for my film 'Mumbai 125 kilometres' suddenly disappeared from her vanity van. Her mobile too was not reachable I assumed that the actress was tired and left for home," said Hemant. The filmmaker did receive an SMS from Veena that she was unwell and depressed and was leaving but since Hemant's cell was switched off he discovered it far later. After almost 12 hours of the incident, Hemant and Veena’s manager has discovered that she is mysteriously missing.
She gets limelight by Nude photo on FMH Magzine cover and recent comments on pakistan and FMH. Deeply embroiled in a nude photo scandal thanks to what she alleges is Photoshopping on her recent FHM India cover, Malik has been on the receiving end of extraordinary criticism in her home country. The criticism comes from religious officials (and some government officials as well, though in Pakistan the line between the two is sometimes non-existent) who claim that Malik has disgraced both her country and her religion. She has been threatened with the loss of her citizenship. Her own father disowned her. And the death threats—well, they come daily. And yet despite it all Veena Malik wishes to return to Pakistan. But she's not content to show up with her tail between her legs. Though some in her country would discourage it, Malik is a modern woman, and as such has seen fit to fight back against the abuses thrown her way. The simple act of posing naked on the cover of a magazine (she maintains that she was modestly covered for the shoot, a claim that, given FHM India's history, should be believed until proven otherwise) has given Malik a platform for dishing out some criticism of her own. Malik did so with aplomb, lambasting Pakistan as a country where society "still lives in the Stone Age."

Govt changes criteria for Bharat Ratna Award

Amid clamour for Bharat Ratna for Sachin Tendulkar, Government has modified rules to pave way for eligibility of sportspersons for the highest civilian award of the country.  The new rules, providing for eligibility of persons excelling in fields other than art, literature, science and public service for Bharat Ratna, were notified on 16th November, Sports Minister Ajay Maken told reporters in New Delhi. "I wrote a letter to Home Minister on April 15. The Prime Minister and Home Minister have very kindly agreed now to change the norm. "Instead of the fields of art, literature, science and public services, now on November 16, Government has notified that for performance of highest order in any field of human endeavour Bharat Ratna could be awarded," Maken said outside Parliament House. He said the decision has paved the way for any sportsperson to get Bharat Ratna award.
The move comes amid clamour for conferring of Bharat Ratna on Tendulkar for his outstanding contribution to cricket. "For me as a sports minister this is one of the biggest days of Indian sport and next biggest day I think will be the day when any sportsperson is named as an awardee of Bharat Ratna," Maken said. Reacting to a question on conferring of the highest civilian order on Tendulkar and legendary Hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, the Minister said the two names from the sports category that struck in his mind is "the wizard of hockey Major Dhyan Chand and our run machine Sachin Tendulkar." "Both of them I think should be the top contender but there are many other contenders for Bharat Ratna award if it is given to a sportsperson. Ultimately, the decision has to be taken by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister takes the decision and recommend it to the President," he said. Bharat Ratna was instituted in 1954. Any person without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex is eligible for these awards. The recommendations for Bharat Ratna are made by the Prime Minister himself to the President. No formal recommendations for this are necessary.

CBI wants narco test of Bhanwari’s husband

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has proposed a narco-analysis test of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi's husband Amarchand who is presently in the agency's custody.  The CBI, which is handling the case, filed its status report with the Rajasthan High Court today. Sources say that the investigating agency claims Amarchand Nat has revealed that he was given ten lakhs by Sohan Lal Vishnoi, the first man arrested in the case, and Sahi Ram, the alleged mastermind, who remains missing. Bhanwari Devi, a nurse and regular star in folk music videos, was last seen near her home in a village near Jodhpur on September 1. That day, she told Amarchand that she needed to travel to a nearby town named Bilada. He said he needed to get their car repaired, and asked her to take the bus. She was never seen again. The CBI believes she was kidnapped after she met up with Sohan Lal Vishnoi in Bilada. Inquiries reveal that there was nothing wrong with Amarchand's car.
Bhanwari disappeared amid reports that she was using a sex CD to blackmail Mahipal Maderna, who was a minister in the Congress government at the time. After Mr Maderna was arrested, he said he was introduced to the nurse by another Congress politician, Malkhan Singh. Earlier this week, Amarchand reportedly told the CBI that he believes his youngest child was fathered by Mr Singh. It was Amarchand who reported his wife missing and then pushed for Mr Maderna to be charged with her rape and murder. But when the CBI began interrogating him, he tried to run away. He was arrested on December 8. Mr Maderna is in jail. Malkhan Singh is also considered a key suspect in this case but in recent weeks, he is proving to be uncooperative.

Bharat Ratna to Dhyan Chand, Sachin soon !

Hockey legend Dhyan Chand, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and others may get Bharat Ratna, the government has effected a change in the eligibility criteria. The nation’s highest civilian award will now be awarded in recognition of exceptional service/performance of the highest order “in any field of human endeavour” — covering almost all the fields that had earlier remained out of the purview of the award. Earlier, it was restricted to areas like “art, literature, science and public service”. “The change has been made through a notification by the PMO on recommendation of the home and sports ministries,” said a senior official. Supporting the sports ministry’s demand to include ‘sports’ as a category for the award, the home ministry had written to the PMO in July, asking it to take the call. As the clamour for awarding Bharat Ratna to Tendulkar and Dhyan Chand gets louder, sports minister Ajay Maken had earlier written to home minister P Chidambaram. Maken, however, did not plead for any specific sportsperson or sports.
The recommendations for the Bharat Ratna, instituted in 1954, are made by the PM himself to the President. Though names of persons can be sent by different state/UT governments, organizations and individuals to the PMO for consideration, no “formal recommendation” is necessary. It is also not mandatory that Bharat Ratna is awarded every year. The number of awards is, however, restricted to a maximum of three in a year. So far, 41 people have been conferred with Bharat Ratna. The first three Indians who received the award were Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, Chakravarti Rajagopalachari and Sarvapali Radhakrishnan in 1954. The award has been conferred on a naturalized Indian citizen (Mother Teresa in 1980) and to two non-Indians (Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Nelson Mandela in 1990). Pandit Bhimsen Joshi was the last recipient of the award in 2009. Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajendra Prasad, Lata Mangeshkar, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Amartya Sen, Jayprakash Narayan, J R D Tata, Rajiv Gandhi, Sardar Patel are among the other recipients of Bharat Ratna.

AIPMT Exam 2012 date is 1st April 2012

All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) Exam 2012 date is finally announced. The AIPMT prelims will be held on April 1, 2012 followed by the main exam on May 13. A statement issued by the CBSE said that it would be conducting the AIPMT in 2012 for the 15 per cent all India quota only.  The statement further said that this was being done "as per communication received from ministry of health and family welfare, regarding seeking permission from the Hon'ble Supreme Court to allow introduction of National Eligibility Cum Entrance Exam for under graduates (NEET-UG) under graduate medical courses from the academic year 2013-14 instead of 2012-13". The AIPMT syllabus, exam centres and pattern of the exam will remain exactly as it was in 2011.
The NEET-UG has been engulfed in controversy right from the start with many states opposing it for various reasons. While Tamil Nadu questioned the validity of NEET all together, Maharashtra sought postponement of the exam till the syllabus could be at par. Maharashtra had approached the Supreme Court in November and was directed to go before the Bombay High Court with their plea. But the state spent almost a month trying to finalize their legal draft even as parents and students grew anxious. In a desperate attempt even chief minister Prithviraj Chavan wrote to the union health ministry expressing his administration's inability to participate in the NEET. Chavan cited differences in syllabus and lack of Urdu and Marathi as medium of language as the issues for seeking a postponement. As the lawyers spent time in finishing the draft, a parents' body from Marathwada region decided to take matters in their own hands and approach the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay HC, which ordered a stay on the NEET. Dr Nandini Babhulkar, an active member of a parents body from the city, said, "CBSE announcing the AIPMT dates has come as a huge relief for the students. It is a further affirmation of the fact that an early NEET will no longer burden the students."

Kirorimal meets Maderna, Jat-Meena Third front in Rajasthan ?

Tribal leader and MP Kirorimal Meena met former minister Mahipal Maderna in Jail and his family in Jodhpur on Wednesday, in an attempt largely seen in prospects of a third-front in state where politics has been dominated by the Congress and the BJP. Talks about a new combine against the two mainstream parties has been thriving in the political corridors for sometime now, but Kirori’s public display of his support to Maderna family has left little to doubt about it. After his 45-minute meeting with Maderna’s wife Leela and daughter Divya, Kirori hinted at a combined attempt to clean up politics in state. A Kirori aide said, “they have talked about a joint rally, planned sometime early next year. Breakaway groups from Congress and the BJP would also participate in the rally.”
Third front voice raises as Jat community own 17% of vote bank while Meena have 12% of votebank in State. The recent resignation of some of Jat Leaders from BJP and congress may bring a storm in politics of Rajasthan. Earlier some of Jat leaders like BJP MLA Hanuman Beniwal and Jat leader Hari Singh and Chandraraj Singhvi are also believed to be working overtime to put together a new political unit in state. Political pundits believe that Maderna is crucial to third-front plan. “Both Kirori and Maderna have an axe to grind with chief minister Ashok Gehlot; for Kirori it also a means to put up resistance to the BJP in 2013 assmebly polls. Both BJP and the Congress are keenly watching the proceedings, particularly after Divya’s feisty public appearances and recent cooperative poll win for Maderna in Jodhpur.

Maderna elected unopposed in Cooperative body polls

Former Rajasthan Minister Mahipal Maderna was today declared elected unopposed President to Gram Seva Cooperative Committee(GSCC) of his native village Chadi Chotina in Osian region near here. Maderna, who was sacked from the Council of Ministers in October after his reported illicit relations with ANM Bhanwari Devi and alleged indulgence in her "abduction, sexual exploitation and suspected killing", was arrested by the CBI on December 2 and sent to judicial custody yesterday after expiry of his police remand. Despite his detention for past 11 days, he was elected unopposed to the post. Local people believe that it is all political conspiracy against maderna.
Election was held on Tuesday for the posts of chairman and vice-chairman of the Samiti and Maderna was elected the chairman unopposed as there was no contestant opposite him. Before this, he and his daughter Divya Madera were also elected the members of the samiti unopposed. He is currently lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail and was not allowed to go to the village to file his nomination by the court despite his request on Monday before the CBI court of Jodhpur. The court had cited law and order as the reason for its refusal to grant him permission to go in person to the village to file his nomination after the report sought by the police came in the negative. His wife Leela Maderna had filed his nomination on his behalf.
