The temple is maintained by the chief priest called Bhattarak and assisted by Brahmacharis (his disciples). The image of Mahavirji is washed followed by pujan and ashta-argha (eight oblations). In the evening aarti is performed. Lamps are lit by 'ghee' (clarified butter) and the offerings comprise of rice, white and yellow flowers, sandalwood, camphor, saffron, mishri (crystallised sugar), and dry fruits.

Rajasthan Government increased dearness allowance (DA) rate by 8% after Union cabinet approve 8% DA hike for central govt. employees. Raajsthan Government on Friday announced an 8% DA hike for its employees with retrospective effect from January 1, 2013 to 80%, from existing 72%.  The hike would be effective from January 1, 2013 and the employees and pensioners will be entitled to arrears. The government had raised DA to 72% in September last year, which had come into effect from July 1, 2012.
The hike would cost the state exchequer an additional Rs 1167 crore annually. Though the increased DA would be effective from January 1, this year, it would be paid in cash only from April 1, 2013. The arrears from January 1, 2013 to March 31, 2013 would be credited in the GPF accounts of the employees appointed before January 1, 2004, while for those appointed after January 1, 2004, the arrears would be paid in cash.

Union cabinet clears Vidhan Parishad for Rajasthan

Union cabinet clears Vidhan Parishad for Rajasthan. Union cabinet cleared the state’s proposal for having a Vidhan Parishad or Legislative Council. The proposal would now be presented before the parliament in the form of a bill, which has to be passed by the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha by a twothird majority for the Council to come into existence. Once cleared by the parliament, Rajasthan would become the seventh state in the country to have a Vidhan Parishad. Parliamentary affairs minister Shanti Dhariwal moved the resolution under Article 169 (1) of the Constitution demanding setting up of Vidhan Parishad in the state. The resolution was required to be passed by two-third majority of the members present and voting in the House.
Deputy Speaker Ramnarayan Meena announced that of the 156 members who were present and voted on the resolution, 152 had voted in favour of it, whereas four members opposed it. The CPM opposed the resolution saying, the decision of setting up Vidhan Parishad would cast extra burden on the state exchequer. It will benefit the political parties only. The resolution will now be required to be passed by both the houses of the Parliament then after the President's approval, the Parishad would be created. As per Constitution, since the state assembly has a strength of 200 members, the council would have 66 members (one-third) in vidhan parishad of Rajasthan. Vidhan parishad was long pending demands from rajasthan so Rajasthan CM Gehlot gets one more crown just before election after Refinery in Rajasthan which was announced last month.

Sportsmen sign 'no links with RSS' affidavit in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government has triggered a controversy as it directed sportsperson to give affidavits where they have stated that they have no associations with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) or Islamic organization Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, in order to qualify for the state government's sports awards, reports said on Saturday.  A news channel on Saturday reported that only the sportspersons who have signed an affidavit saying they don’t have any links with RSS or Jamaat-e-Islami are being given state government awards. The RSS has strongly objected to the Gehlot government’s move saying that the Congress is playing vendetta politics. Members of ABVP, youth wing of BJP, yesterday protested at an awards function organised by the RSSC against the sportspersons being made to give the affidavits.
Speaking on the matter, Rajasthan sports minister Mangilal Garasiya said the government is only implementing the rule which has been there since 1986. RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav crticised the move and called it an 'illegal order'. He said: "We are also contemplating legal action against the sports council. Sports council is an autonomous body. It has no binding to follow illegal diktat of the government."

Rajiv Gandhi was 'negotiator' for Swedish jet firm: WikiLeaks

The latest WikiLeaks revelations of Rajiv Gandhi having been a conduit in negotiations for a Swedish fighter plane in the 70s injected a fresh dose of acrimony in the already bitter Congress-BJP ties. The WikiLeaks revelation flows from newly-released secret "Kissinger" cables dispatched by US embassy in India between 1973 and 1976 that claim Rajiv was the "negotiator" for a Swedish firm trying to sell fighters to Indian Air Force (IAF) by referring to a Swedish Embassy official in India.
A report published by a leading daily ‘The Hindu’ on WikiLeaks expose of US diplomatic cables relating to “the Henry Kissinger era” claimed that Rajiv Gandhi could have been a middleman for the Swedish company Saab-Scania, when it was trying to sell its Viggen fighter aircraft to India in the 1970s. This was several months before Rajiv Gandhi became Prime Minister, then a pilot with the Indian Airlines. This shocking revelation is contained in the Kissinger era Cables claims that he was the “main Indian negotiator” for a massive aircraft deal for which his “family” connections were seen as valuable.
Congress chief spokesman and general secretary Janardan Dwivedi was quick to slam the report  blaming sections of media, for believing in sensational news. The ruling party has earlier too sneered at the leaks by the WikiLeaks. Dwivedi accused WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange of “spreading lies and falsehoods” and asked the media not to fall for “temporary gains” (of circulation) by publishing such lies. “We are very hurt with the news,” he said while dismissing questions on any legal action by the party.
