Defence Forces to have separate pay panel

With armed forces often complaining of being handed out step-motherly treatment successive pay commissions, which they feel are dominated by civil service interests, PMO has decided that the three services will have a dedicated panel to decide their salary issues. PMO has informed the defence ministry that the pay panel will be de-linked from the pay commission that looks into the salary revisions of all central government employees. The decision was, at least by way of initial reactions, received with mixed emotions, as details of the pay commission’s functioning were unclear.
