Election Commissioner Navin Chawla on Saturday ruled out his resignation following CEC N Gopalaswami’s recommendation to the government for his removal from the post.
He refused to comment on the CEC's recommendation, saying he was not aware of any letter written to the President. The Election Commission has conducted "flawless" elections for the past several years, Chawla said adding, "We will continue to do so." "The dignity of the Commission is paramount," he told reporters on being asked about Gopalaswami's recommendation in which he had complained about his "partisan" functioning.
