Lalit Modi barred from RCA Election

Rajasthan Cricket Association has now passed a resolution barring Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Lalit Modi from contesting the RCA polls as he is not born in rajasthan. Lalit Modi who was the RCA President in 2007, lost the polls this year to Sanjay Dixit and now the new camp seems intent on pushing the IPL Chairman out of Rajasthan Cricket. The new RCA resolution states that only Rajasthan born people would be eligible to contest the RCA elections, which means that high profile IPL Chairman Lalit Modi will not be able stand for the post of the RCA President. The matter is still pending in the Supreme Court.
Dixit, whose hands were strengthened after today`s decision, said the constitution adopted was the same which was presented by Devaram Choudhary to the Registrar of the Cooperative Societies on January 27, 2005. "It has certain provisions under which only domicile of Rajasthan and the person having his name on the voter list of the state would be allowed to fight the elections of RCA in future. It would mean that former president of the RCA Lalit Modi would not be able to contest RCA elections," said Dixit.
