Maoist Operation in West Bengal as per Plan - Home Minister

Operation against the Maoists in West Bengal's Lalgarh town is going according to plan. "So far the operation is going according to plans but they must be prepared for the unexpected. I sincerely hope that with the kind of action we have advised, the operation will be successful," Home minister told reporters in delhi after a cabinet meeting. On the latest ground situation, the Home Minister said, “The forces are moving towards Lalgarh, they are moving cautiously.”
On the controversy surrounding the Centre’s reluctance to send in troops, Chidambaram assured that the West Bengal police forces were in adequate number and they should lead the operation from the front as they are doing. "The CRPF will assist them," he added. The Home Minister seconded Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhatacharjee’s call for talks, saying that the Centre is willing to facilitate such talks but for that to happen the Maoists would have to lay down arms.
