The third eye of city for terror is now days down. BSNL takes rough step against JDA after JDA unable to pay charge on time for CCTV Cameras. CCTV Cameras are installed in Jaipur to enhance security in city by JDA. Area traffic control (ATC) project, under which 23 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras had been installed to monitor the traffic on the stretch between Khasa Kancothi Circle and Transport Nagar in the city, is lying completely defuncthese days. Reason is not too far to guess: The BSNL, which used to provide leased lines connecting these cameras for transfer of data, scrapped its services recently as JDA failed to pay the service charges to the networking company.
These cameras are used to handle terror and keeping an eye on the traffic movements and helping the police curb violation of traffic rules, the CCTVs were to provide information during terror attacks as they cover the main road along the most crowded markets in the city like Khasa Kothi Circle, MI Road, Ajmeri Gate and Ghat Gate. During investigations into the recent Mumbai and Delhi terror strikes, the CCTVs played a vital role in identifying some of the terrorists and provided evidences against them.
