Gurjar Mahapanchayat on July 26, Govt to act in time

Gurjar or Gujjar Mahapanchayat is called on July 26 at Todabheem, near Karauli district in eastern Rajasthan. The Mahapanchayat has been called by Col Kirori Singh Bainsla, convener of the Gujjar Arkashan Sagangharsh Samiti (GASS), spreadheading the Gujjar agitation for the past three years, which saw the killing of about 80 persons in police firing, this time Govt have to act in time and take some tought decision in time. The revival of Gujjar agitation for reservation on Friday rocked the State Assembly on Friday forcing Speaker Deepender Singh Shekhawatat, amidst pandemonium and uproarious scenes to adjourn the House thrice, before finally adjourning it for the day. Members of the main Opposition BJP, continue to sit in the well of the House till evening even after the adjournment, to press the Governor to impress upon the Government to give its nod to the Bill, unanimously passed by the House during the BJP Government which provided five per cent reservation to the community on the basis of its economic backwardness.
State government’s effort to make peace with the agitating Gujjars demanding reservation received a major setback as the meeting between Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla and chief minister Ashok Gehlot could not happen on Friday. Led by Leader of Opposition Vasundhara Raje, BJP MLAs on Friday submitted a memorandum to governor’s secretary in Bainsla’s absence demanding the approval of reservation Bill. Gehlot said Bainsla had been misled by BJP who forced him not to find a solution to the reservation issue. “If there is any bloodshed in the name of reservation, the leader of Opposition Vasundhara Raje and the BJP state unit chief Arun Chaturvedi would be held responsible. The BJP should either direct Bainsla to hold talks with the government or stop him to lead another agitation. A Bill on Rajasthan SC/ST/OBC, Gujjar, EBC reservation passed by Vasundhara Raje government was still pending with the governor. Both parties are playing vote bank game and no one want clear solution in reservation issue and this time if government will watch the drama, people will loose life in this clash.
