The rain-starved national capital on Monday came to a crawl after heavy showers inundated many low-lying areas and affected vehicular movement and air traffic while at least 10 people were trapped when a wall collapsed due to the downpour. The uninterrupted showers resulted in water-logging and traffic snarls in many areas, including India Gate, ITO, R K Puram and localities in West Delhi and East Delhi. Rain gauges in the city measured 69 mm of rains from Sunday evening till 8:30 p.m. on Monday. The city received 29.4 mm of rains between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., a senior official at MeT Department said.
The central control room of MCD received complaints of water-logging from areas like Model Town, Azadpur, Munirka and Dwarka.
