Sterlite Energy plans 1000 MW plant in Banswara Rajasthan

After a long time there is good news for rajasthan industry. After oil and gas plant in barmer by Cairns india and ONGC now UK-based Vedanta group is planning to set up a 1000 MW power plant in the state through its subsidiary Sterlite Energy Limited. As per news from times of india, Vedanta group chairman Anil Agarwal said, “We are doing a feasibility study to put up a 1000 MW power plant, possibly at Banswara. We have outlined an investment of up to Rs 5,000 crore and the project will be completed in three years’ time.”
This will be used for commercial purposes. Last week, Sterlite Industries, the Indian mining flagship of Vedanta Resources, had raised about Rs 7,200 crore ($1.5 billion) in ADRs to part finance its power generation plans and other planned capital expenditure programmes. Currently, the Udaipur-based Hindustan Zinc Ltd, another Vedanta group firm, produces about 500 MW power for captive use.
